Inaugurated in 1912 as the city’s first public thermoelectric power plant, the facility was transformed in the late 1990s into a museum space unlike any other in the world. Inside the Engine Room and the Boiler Room, Roman-era marble statues—sourced from excavations of Roman *horti* (gardens), temples in the historic center, and Republican-era Rome—are displayed right alongside massive Tosi diesel engines and steam turbines.
