Deep in the heart of Basilicata sits Craco, a medieval village frozen in time. Following a massive landslide, the entire town was forced to evacuate. No one ever came back.

Today, you can safely walk through what they left behind: silent streets, crumbling plazas, and haunting ruins so iconic they were chosen as a filming location for Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.
