After two years of careful thought, I have finally decided that Facebook is no longer the right fit for my journey. Not every social network suits everyone; for me, it just doesn’t capture the spirit of Silvia’s Trips anymore. While I will stop posting regular updates on Facebook, I’ll still be here to reply to any private messages you send.

Rest assured, I’m not disappearing from the online world. I remain as passionate as ever about sharing practical travel advice, inspiring stories, and tips for fellow solo female adventurers. My blog continues to be the heart of my travel storytelling, and I’m excited to keep exploring and sharing new experiences with you (I am currently writing about my freezing Icelandic adventure).

Throwback to an unforgettable day trip from Cusco, exploring the beauty of the Sacred Valley! 🌿✨ From the colourful markets of Chinchero to the fascinating agricultural terraces of Moray, and finally, the stunning salt flats of Salineras de Maras – every stop was a dream. 😍🚍

Travelling solo through Peru in 2013 was an adventure of a lifetime, and I was amazed at how easy and affordable it was to hop on local buses for day trips like this! If you’re in Cusco, don’t miss this breathtaking journey.

Exploring the timeless beauty of Hagia Sophia! 🕌✨

This architectural masterpiece is a true testament to history, from its majestic domes to its stunning mosaics. Originally constructed in 537 AD under Emperor Justinian I as a cathedral, Hagia Sophia has been a beacon of the Byzantine Empire. After the Ottoman conquest in 1453, it became a mosque, blending Islamic and Christian artistry. In 1935, it became a museum; as of 2020, it has been reconverted into a mosque again.

Walking through its grand halls and gazing up at the soaring ceilings was absolutely breathtaking. Each corner tells a story of empires, religions, and cultures intertwined. Swipe through to immerse yourself in the splendour of Hagia Sophia with me! 📸

Descending into the depths of Istanbul’s ancient past! 🏛️✨

These photos are from the mesmerizing Basilica Cistern—a subterranean wonder built in the 6th century during Emperor Justinian I’s reign. Once a grand underground reservoir supplying water to the palace, it’s now a serene labyrinth of columns and archways. Don’t miss the mysterious Medusa heads carved into the bases of two columns! 🐍
