I’m Jackie, a part time traveller with a full time job. I live near Glasgow, Scotland. After not having left the country for three years, I took my first solo trip in July 2015, age 30, and loved it so much that it ignited a major case of wanderlust. I decided to put my Adult Life Plan on hold and spend the foreseeable future travelling the world as much as I can afford to, and as much as my annua

l leave entitlement allows (I have 35 days and plan to use every last minute). I visited 5 countries in 2015 and aim to beat that in 2016! Hopefully I will inspire you to do the same. I started Jackie Jets Off to document my part time travels, write about my experiences along the way and provide tips, reviews and beautiful photos. "Alone time may seem unsettling at first, but a little introspection helped me know, and even appreciate, myself more. In a way, I learned to date myself. Stepping into that metro, museum, or restaurant alone really meant stepping out of my beloved comfort zone. Being single dares us to be self-reliant. We all must learn to take care of ourselves before we can take care of others. Knowing and loving yourself before a relationship, I’ve been told, better prepares you to know and love others."

We should embrace single life the same way we embrace travel.
