🇮🇹 New video up — Perugia, Italy during the Coppa della Perugina 🏎️

There are evenings in Italy that feel almost too good to be real, and this was one of them. I was lucky enough to be in Perugia on the final night of the Coppa della Perugina 2026, when the whole historic center fills up with vintage cars and the streets turn into one big, beautiful celebration.

If you love Italian hill towns — the medieval lanes, the golden light, the elegant passeggiata, and the chance to watch beautiful Italian people and beautiful Italian cars all in one place — you're going to enjoy this one. We start at the Fontana Maggiore, stroll the Corso Vannucci to the panoramic Giardini Carducci, and end up back at the finish line as the crews roll in.

A little history: the rally was started in 1924 by Giovanni Buitoni, the man behind Perugina chocolate. A hundred years on, it's still going strong as a four-day historical re-enactment.

Filmed in 4K HDR 60fps.

Northern Italy is next. 🇮🇹

On June 2nd, I head back to Italy to film a new series of 4K walking tours across Verona, Lake Garda, Padua, and Vicenza.

Current plans include:
• Verona
• Sirmione
• Lazise
• Bardolino
• Riva del Garda
• Limone sul Garda
• Malcesine
• Padua
• Vicenza

I’ll also be filming during the Feast of Saint Anthony celebrations in Padua and exploring some of the most beautiful towns around Lake Garda.

Which place are you most excited to see?

Today marks 46 years since the eruption of Mount St. Helens on May 18, 1980 — one of the most powerful and devastating natural events in U.S. history.

To remember that day, I wanted to share one of my older Prowalk Tours videos: a 9.5-mile hike through the Mount St. Helens blast zone, filmed in 2018. The hike begins at Johnston Ridge Observatory, follows the Boundary Trail out to Devil’s Elbow, then descends the Truman Trail across the Pumice Plain toward Windy Ridge, with views of Spirit Lake along the way.

It is one of the most dramatic and humbling landscapes I’ve ever filmed. Even decades later, the effects of the eruption are still visible everywhere — the flattened forest, the pumice-covered plain, the floating logs on Spirit Lake, and the wide-open view toward the crater.

The video also ends with a slideshow of never-before-seen photos from the May 18th eruption.

The eruption took the lives of 57 people, including USGS volcanologist David Johnston, whose warnings and work helped save many others. This video is a quiet walk through the landscape they left behind, and a reminder of how powerful nature can be.

Hey Everyone, Today I am excited to be posting the first video from my recent trip to Italy, featuring the medieval town of Viterbo.

The walk was filmed on the final day of their annual San Pellegrino in Fiore flower festival where the town is decorated in flower displays and vendors are selling flowers and plants throughout the piazzas. 🌸

For three days every May, the historic quarter is taken over by floral installations, flower vendors filling the piazzas, costumed medieval reenactors, and live music drifting between the stone streets.

This year's edition featured a giant metallic flower sculpture in Piazza del Gesù, a suspended avenue of delphiniums at the Cathedral bridge, and a 10-meter tower of wildflowers in Piazza San Carluccio. The San Pellegrino quarter itself is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval districts in all of Europe — full of those distinctive external stone staircases (profferli) you only really see in this part of Lazio.

Filmed Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

I read through the comments on my earlier Rome, Italy walking tours, and one theme stood out: viewers wanted to see more ruins and fewer streets and churches.

So, this time around, I planned a Rome walk focused much more on ancient Rome. I started at the newly reopened Belvedere Cederna, looking out over the Colosseum, and then spent the day filming the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Altar of the Fatherland, and the area around Piazza del Campidoglio.

Here are a few things I learned:

- I had an 11:15 AM time slot for the Colosseum. Even though there was a long line of people waiting to get in, once it was my entry time, I was able to go to the front of the line.

- You will not be able to purchase a ticket online outside of ticket office hours. I bought my ticket to the Colosseum online (https://colosseo.it/en/tickets/24h-colosseum-roman-forum-and-palatine/) before I flew to Italy, but I had to wait until midnight to do it.

- The standard ticket costs €18 and gives access to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. The better option, though, may be the Full Experience ticket, which costs €24. Depending on the version you buy, it gives access to either the underground area or the third level of the Colosseum. What I did not realize is that it also gives access to additional sites inside the Roman Forum. You can see the extra sites included with the Full Experience ticket in the photo above.

- I would recommend booking the earliest Colosseum time slot possible. Even at 11:15 AM, it was already so crowded inside that it was difficult to move in some areas.

- Belvedere Cederna can be reached from a ramp near the Colosseo metro stop, or by taking the steps next to the Tourist Information Center.

After filming the day walk, I went back out and filmed an evening walk as well.

Final step count for the day: 36,266.

I'm sitting at a cafe in Orvieto drinking an Americano and trying to figure out how to make the most out of the next four days of bad weather. The plan was to film Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Assisi and Perugia, and I still can in the rain, but I'm open to suggestions. ....Viterbo was a sucess by the way!! I'm excited to share that walk with you.

Made it to Rome! 🇮🇹
Got to film inside the Pantheon yesterday and then wandered the streets for an hour as the city went into its evening rhythm. Dinner just outside the hotel at 9 PM and I was out cold by 10. Of course, I was wide awake by 4am.

Two full days of Rome filming ahead, then driving north into Lazio and Umbria for some smaller hill towns — Viterbo, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Perugia, Assisi and Narni. Big trip. Lots of walking and very happy to be back!

I'm also trying something new on this trip — sending out email dispatches from the road with photos, behind-the-scenes notes, and stuff that won't make it onto YouTube. If you want to follow along, you can sign up here: prowalk-tours.kit.com/newsletter
If you've got a favorite Rome spot you think I should film, drop it in the comments.

Hey everyone! I woke up yesterday with the feeling that it was time to get back out and film some new walks. It didn’t take long to decide where I wanted to go…

I’m heading back to ITALY! 🇮🇹

As always, my plans may change once I’m there. I like to stay flexible depending on the weather, crowds, events, and filming conditions, but I’ve attached my initial itinerary.

Right now, the plan includes new walks in Rome, Viterbo, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Assisi, Perugia, Spello, Pitigliano, and Narni.

There should be a lot happening during the trip — flower displays in Viterbo, Calendimaggio festivities in Assisi, vintage cars in Perugia, medieval jousting atmosphere in Narni, and much more.

Let me know what you think of the plan! Are there any places along this route you’d especially like to see?

New Italy walks coming soon!
