4:00 PM: Historical parade and performance by musicians and flag-bearers from the Balestrieri di Pisa Company, through the city center.
5:00 PM: Presentation of the book “Sei pisano se… dialetto pisano e modi di dire pisani” at the SMS municipal library.
5:30 PM: The BadaBimBumBand presents “Opus band,” through the city center.
9:15 PM: Entertainment by the “Giullar Cortese” (Gianluca Foresi) in Piazza dei Cavalieri.
9:45 PM: Mercenari d’Oriente present the show “Pandora” in Piazza dei Cavalieri.
10:00 AM - 7:00 PM: Exhibition of Pisan ceramics at the Fortilizio della Cittadella.
3:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Exhibition of armors and crossbows and guided tours to the Permanent Exhibition of Historical Traditions at Palazzo Gambacorti.
10:00 AM - 7:00 PM: Market of ancient flavors with workshops for children in Piazza La Pera (Capodanno della Terra), organized by Slow Food Pisa and Colline Pisane.

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the fascinating exhibition “Casabona, Dyckman, and the Flora of Crete” at the Bastion of Parlascio. 🌱🪴

A unique show that takes us back to the 16th century, where the botanist Giuseppe Casabona, accompanied by the artist Georg Dyckman, collected and depicted the most unique plants from the island of Crete. The exhibition, featuring reproductions of 36 plates from his manuscript “Icones variarum plantarum,” is available until March 21, 2025. This is a great chance to enjoy the perfect blend of art and science while exploring the beautiful details of Crete’s flora. 🪷

🎬 Movies filmed in Tuscany: “The English Patient” 🎬

The English Patient is an epic drama set during World War II, telling the story of a severely burned man (played by Ralph Fiennes) and his relationship with a nurse (Juliette Binoche) as they seek both physical and emotional healing. The film explores themes of love, loss, and redemption.

Although much of the film was shot in Tuscany, some key scenes were filmed near Pisa, particularly in Ripafratta, where the old bridge (demolished in 2020) features in a crucial sequence. In this scene, Lieutenant Kip Singh (Naveen Andrews) is defusing a bomb when the news arrives that the war has ended.

The beauty and serenity of Tuscany provide the perfect backdrop for this poignant story of war and love. 🌿✨

Today we celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest minds in history: Galileo Galilei. 🌟 Born on February 15, 1564, Galileo was a pioneer in using the telescope for astronomical observations, transforming our understanding of the universe. 🌌

His discoveries, such as Jupiter’s moons and the phases of Venus, challenged the beliefs of his time and laid the foundation for modern science. 🪐🔭 Galileo was not only a visionary but also a brave defender of the truth, fighting against ignorance and dogma in favor of knowledge.

The Viareggio Carnival 2025 🎭 will take place from February 8 to March 4, with the following events scheduled 👇🏼

➡️1st Corso Mascherato Opening Parade: Sunday, February 9 at 3:00 PM.
➡️2nd Corso Mascherato: Sunday, February 16 at 3:00 PM.
➡️3rd Corso Mascherato Night Parade: Saturday, February 22 at 5:00 PM.
➡️4th Corso Mascherato Night Parade: Thursday, February 27 at 6:00 PM.
➡️5th Corso Mascherato: Sunday, March 2 at 3:00 PM.
➡️6th Corso Mascherato Closing Parade: Tuesday, March 4 at 3:00 PM, followed by the announcement of the winners and a fireworks display.

In addition to the parades, there will be other cultural and artistic activities, such as exhibitions at the “Lorenzo Viani” Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery and the 24th International Carnival Cup Tournament from February 7 to 9.
