Travel Agents/Agencies have been around a very long time and frankly we never went away!

In my 37yrs of being in the travel industry I saw firsthand when the internet age came in the early 2000’s it came with a slew of OTA’s Online Travel Agencies and BIG Box Stores that what we call "faceless brands" of travel, meaning you'll never have the same person handling your vacation or a person whose never been to the destinations they sell.

What your goals and expectations are for a memorable and magical vacation when working with them or planning it solo can be the difference of several or hundreds of dollars spent for a mediocre vacation, that can cause a “ TRAGICAL “ vacation in the making.

WHY?

• Because to them all they see is $$$$, not a family or couple planning the MOST magical time away together that maybe a "once-in-a -lifetime" vacation.

• They aren't in the business of building a quality relationship or repetitive business.

• Because they are considered a 3rd Party when things go wrong - all you hear is crickets or the words “sorry we can’t help you!” .

We in the travel industry aren't naive that anyone can book their vacation. Here’s what we do see is :

• Families/Couples confused about the destinations that they may have once visited as kid and now can't seem to understand all of the planning it now takes...

• Families/Couples being ghosted/forgotten by these "online travel agencies/BIG Box Stores" when problems arise

• Families/Couples paying overpriced or being priced gouged while on vacation.

• Families/Couples not getting the MOST out of the vacation that they should be.

There's ALOT of "wannabe" travel agents/planners and just like everything else you have to do your homework... you have the right to ask them questions and not just about the vacation , Ask them these questions to avoid red flags before working with them !

• How long have they been in the industry?

• Have they ever been to the destination they sell ?

• When was the last time they were physically there?

By Disney Destinations

Effective June 3, three policy updates will roll out across the fleet, including updates to the alcohol policy, selfie sticks & tripods and stateroom decorations.

Alcohol Policy

Guests 21+ may bring onboard either one unopened bottle of wine or champagne (up to 750 ml) or six beers (up to 12 oz each) at embarkation. All alcohol must be packed in carry‑on luggage. The dining room corkage fee is now $20 per bottle (previously $29). Wine and beer purchased at ports of call will be held until the end of the voyage for Guests. This process is more consistent with practices used across the cruise industry and will continue to provide Guests with options.

Timing:

June 3 – Policies implemented on Disney Fantasy
June 4 – Policies implemented on Disney Adventure and Disney Magic
June 5 – Policies implemented on Disney Wish
June 6 – Policies implemented on Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny
June 8 – Policies implemented on Disney Dream and Disney Wonder
Selfie Sticks & Tripods

Selfie sticks, handheld extension poles, and tripods are permitted onboard and may be used in most areas if folded and under 18 inches. Longer items must be stored in the stateroom and may only be used ashore.

Stateroom Decorations

One of our favorite traditions is seeing the creativity our Guests share through their stateroom door decorations. With everyone’s safety in mind, decorations can be placed on stateroom doors only and not on hallway walls or ceilings. All decorations must follow existing guidelines.

Don't Skip The Trip ~The Money Will Return- However Time Won't!

Everyone puts off until tomorrow what they can do today and that's even trips. Especially when life throws a curve ball and something happens such as a loss of a loved one, a MAJOR health concern , a possible job loss or the kids are too little to travel!

For me personally 8 years ago my youngest son passed away at the age of 12 and last year I was unable to travel due to receiving treatments every 3wks as I was diagnosed with the Stage 1 Breast Cancer.

During the 12yrs of my youngest son's medical journey we took time and made time as a family with our countless and MOST treasured trips to Walt Disney World 88 of them in a 16yr period minus my solo trips prior to taking the family, than to remember his unpredictable and sometimes lengthy admissions at the numerous Children's Hospitals he had to be admitted to which is something we didn't want him or our eldest son's his brothers to remember.

For us we could break away from the panic mode of the flight to fight mode , the beeping pumps , being awaken every 4hrs for vitals and forget the hospital life we as a family all lived under and instead have some type of normalcy where MOST of my sons' childhoods happened right at Walt Disney World. We have SO many memories that sustain us until we are reunited with him.

The first trip for us as a family physically without him was extremely hard- we didn't even know if we could do it - yet with God's love and faith we mustered what courage we had and did, and we have ever since then we have been visiting as a way of healing and therapy. Usually over the Princess 1/2 Marathon I would go down sometimes alone and now with my husband his father as it would coincide with the week of our son's passing.

We found going to the places he loved such as Walt Disney World, Gettysburg, Strasburg Railroad etc, was allowing us to heal and we surely felt the healing from relieving the memories and fun times we had with him. It was like a warm hug that gave its own kind of therapy at the same time.

Not being able to travel last year during my treatments or 2yrs prior as I was then diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis I felt like something was missing when I wasn't able to honor him.

Now from my own journey , I take everyday as a gift and not letting that day go to waste. This year I and my family have milestones that we'll celebrate as my husband's and I 30th Wedding Anniversary , my husband's 65th Birthday, our eldest son's birthday's , our late son's 21st birthday and what would be his 10th Anniversary of his multi-visceral transplant and my 1st year of being Cancer Free.

I couldn't have any other way but to celebrate these milestones than with family getaways and vacations and to just keep making treasured memories that for I and my family will surely last a lifetime.

So, when my guests go thru something such as a devastating loss of a loved one, a MAJOR health concern or a milestone - I can truly say I know and understand them and just how precious their time is in capturing time and bottling it so they too can have it , savor it, treasure it and cherish it.

The last thing you'll not want is regret, the regret that you haven't taken the trip and the memories that could've been made. You'll want the trip so you to can have memories made that will sustain you and your family until you're with your loved one, that you can celebrate the mountain and valley you just conquered, celebrate the milestone with a once in a lifetime trip or even though the littles might not remember , you will and as they get bigger seeing the pictures taken they will have a lasting memory.

The State Department’s Passport information is looking better than ever!

Remember: travel.state.gov is the OFFICIAL source for ALL things Passport.

DO NOT be fooled by 3rd party sites that end in .com, .us, or .org rather than .gov.
Check out recently the revamped site at travel.state.gov/passports

Keep in mind that for those getting their Passports for the 1st time - your Passport must be valid for at least 6mos before using it -

WHY?

Countries and airlines enforce the 6-month Passport rule to prevent travelers from becoming stranded or illegally staying in a foreign country. If an emergency occurs or your trip is extended, this buffer ensures your Passport remains valid while you arrange travel back home.

Key Reasons for the Rule:

Prevents Overstays: It ensures you won't be trapped in a foreign country with expired documents, which could lead to you becoming a legal or financial burden to their government.

Travel Buffer: It guarantees you can legally fly home or to other destinations, even if your departure is delayed due to sudden illness, natural disasters, or canceled flights.

Important Travel Details:

Not Every Country Requires It: While widely enforced (often known as the "Six-Month Club" rule), some nations only require your Passport to be valid for the duration of your stay. Other destinations require a 3-month buffer.

Airlines Enforce It: Even if your destination country does not enforce the rule, airlines often refuse to let you board flights if your Passport expires within 6 months.

Before booking any international/ global trips, PLEASE check the exact countries entry requirements for your destination using the U.S. Department of State Country Information tool.

If your Passport is nearing expiration, the Department of State recommends renewing it at least 9 months before the date listed on the document which gives you plenty of time for the Passport to become validated in the 6 mos window.

TODAY is the DAY! “Bluey’s Wild World” officially opens at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and with the son of the Late Legendary Conservationist and Environmentalist Steve Irwin, Robert Irwin who is very well known for following in his father’s footsteps as he will not only be a delightful host but will also be very educational as he’s the NEW narrator of the Wildlife Express Train. 🚂
