Have you been heard ? How do you practice presence each day?
I’ve found in my 37yrs of being in the travel industry to owning my own business for the past 9yrs , that the MOST powerful practice of presence starts in those small moments of listening. Listening to the clients expectations of what they see, feel and say about what they want outta of their vacations.
Listening is the KEY element in Making a MAGICAL Vacation and not just from one family member , but ALL family members as this trip is ALL about them.
Sure their could be one suited family member selected by the family to navigate everything as we here in the Travel industry typically called a family with a family member a “navigator” - one who does ALL the vacation planning - only to find themselves burning out with ALL the demands the family has and NOW the “navigator” has bit off more than they can chew. And here, is where we come in to save the day.We allow the navigator to help and assist, after all who better knows the family, but they do RIGHT? WRONG.
Some family members don’t know the family member or members all too well, who has planning vacation issues that can turn that should be a MAGICAL Vacation turns into a TRAGICAL vacation, real quick which all aspects of the vacation is what they remember. Where there’s no magic to be found. Because the practice of presence of listening wasn’t used when talking the family or couple, instead assumption from their old trip was used.
When we bring presence of listening into the family or couple relationship with selecting the time of year to what their favorite character dining table service restaurant, to checking into their favorite resort and to walking onto their favorite attraction in their favorite park.
The familys or couples mind starts planning freely when suggestions and advice after listening to them takes them to heart. And now the navigator is open-minded freely because we answer ALL their wonderful questions and they start to answer ours- because at the end of the day we are in the business of Making MAGICAL Vacations Travel, NOT TRAGICAL ones!
Listening is what our ears need to hear that brings peace of mind to the family or couple knowing that we bring our presence of listening with the knowledge and skills of visiting multiple destinations over and over again because these destinations have over time changed something from the last time the family or couple from when you most recently visited since maybe 5-10-15- or even 20 years ago that was once a family favorite or maybe once loved is no longer there. This awareness brings us to a level of its own medicine when we ask the right questions and hear and take the notes.
It a very tall order when the family or couple hires us to assist them in planning the MOST Magical vacation for them that we here at Making Magical Vacations Travel takes very seriously. So we have to be on our game every single time. And bringing presence of listening with us is the first thing we bring for no do -overs or re-dos.
Having the art of bringing our presence of listening to families or couples as we have MANY potential clients who have not gone through that art of presence of being listened to prior, allows us to get to know them and allows us to have repetitive clients for life because they know we care for them and their vacations deeply. Listening to them starts in the pause, in the choice for now.
The first step to listening is always presence.
