Falmouth Heritage Walks offers a 2 hour tour of the historic district of the town of Falmouth, which is located in the parish of Trelawny on the island of Jamaica. This architectural gem, located between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay on Jamaica's north coast, has been listed as one of the world's 100 most endangered monuments four times in the last decade. A guided, leisurely paced walk will take you

along streets laid out in a grid plan in the mid-1700s. Discover the little known history of this over 240 year old town and what made it a rich and significant port in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Learn how Falmouth got running water before New York City and how the poetess Elizabeth Barrett Browning was connected to the town. Hear how the movement to abolish slavery was essentially headquartered in Falmouth and visit the grave of the famous abolitionist, William Knibb. View Georgian architecture that was adapted to local conditions to create a unique island style, and which is still remarkably preserved. It is widely recognized that Falmouth has the best collection of Georgian buildings in the Caribbean. Highlights will include the grand Courthouse built in 1815, numerous 200 year old buildings that line Market Street, the Albert George building, and the 1796 Anglican Parish Church. Leave Falmouth with a newer appreciation of the island's rich history and heritage.

Facebook memories reminded us today that one of the things that distinguished Falmouth Heritage Walks over the years was this brilliantly designed logo. We loved it as it perfectly depicted the historic buildings that would be seen on the walk. Many thanks to the designer, Nicole Ryan, who did such an amazing job creating it.

Today marks 10 years since we officially opened our doors for visitors to experience our Falmouth Heritage Walking Tour. It was such an exciting day. The first cruise ship to Falmouth had docked and we had 3 full pre-booked tours (36 cruise ship passengers).

We did ourselves proud over the years as a micro business and walked over 10,000 visitors through the streets of Falmouth. It was hard work but we were passionate about our product and sharing Jamaica's rich heritage, and the feedback from our guests was tremendous.

From 2015 we consistently received Trip Advisor's Certificate of Excellence, including the Hall of Fame in 2019. Thanks to our wonderful guests who took the time to write and post Reviews especially the 5-Star ones, but most importantly thanks to the fantastic tour guides who worked with us. Without them none of our achievements would have been possible.

Other achievements include the tour of the town's historic Anglican Church that we gave Prince Harry in 2012, a number of overseas articles featuring our company, and expanding our product by introducing the Falmouth Jewish Cemetery Tour plus the Falmouth Food Tour in partnership with Jamaica Culinary Tours. Our walking tour had also been instrumental in offering work experience for newly trained tour guides and we have been used as a model for other parishes to set up a similar heritage tourism product.

Special mention must be made of Hyatt House, our home base, the last stop on all our tours. Anne Hyatt, landlady/tour hostess, opened her house to us and we will be eternally grateful for that.

Unfortunately we have become a casualty of COVID-19 and today marks the closure of Falmouth Heritage Walks. We enjoyed the journey while it lasted and we are happy with the contribution we made to Jamaica's heritage tourism product.

Falmouth has a most fascinating history and it is our hope that the relevant authorities will do all that is in their power to preserve its historic fabric and give it the recognition it deserves.

Walk good...

Sanya....tour guide extraordinaire!!

We take great pride in our tour guides and they take great pride in the job that they do. For all of us Jamaica Culinary Tours is more than a job - it's a calling. Don't take it from us though - here's what a guest said recently about Sanya:

Sanya led our tour on 2/1/20 and the first thing I noticed was her passion and joy for her people and her country. So many people came to her with joy for hugs and hellos as we made our path to places I never would have ventured on my own, to learn and understand outside the gates of the protected port shops. Great stops for food and culture, all questions welcomed and my heart feels truly welcomed - by the country and by this company. Thank you, Sanya. I would highly recommend this tour

Just in!! Because we have earned a Certificate of Excellence every year for the past five years, Falmouth Heritage Walks has qualified for the Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame.

We are very appreciative of all the wonderful reviews that have allowed us to earn this reward. And of course this all wouldn't be possible without our fantastic tour guides.

Wonderful historic buildings, that were former residences, on Trelawny Street in Falmouth. Approximately 200 years old, one of these had the opportunity to reinvent themselves into a business, while the other awaits its turn to be lovingly restored to maintain its historic fabric and integrity, and then claim its place in the expanding business district.
