One of the most underrated senses in memory / recollection is the sense of taste. Its ability to transport you to a time and place in your past is equally as, if not more, impressive than that of sight. As part of my (slow) reintroduction to โKingstonโ in all its new unfamiliarity, I still longed for comfort in the familiarity of flavours, scentsโ Food.
My first stop was China Express, a restaurant my maternal family and I visited every Friday evening for years. I was glad to see that they were still in business and was bubbling with excitement and anticipation for my first visit in years.
The collision of flavours and fond memories was like a warm hug from an old friend; everything I could have imagined as a welcome back to a new Kingston.
