Matoka マトカ Introducing you to all things Japan! Just call me your Japanese travel, cultural, lifestyle and language senpai :P

The Japanese language was made for introverts and I'm proving it by teaching you some of the words that Japanese people often use.

It's common knowledge that Japanese people are often perceived as shy or reserved, but what you didn't know is that it's ingrained in their language and culture. They even have words to describe introverted habits and situations, and we don't have a direct translation for this in English.

If you're an anime fan, you've probably heard of the term hikikomori - or shut in. And people evading society and becoming recluses is common enough that they have this specific term. That's just one of the many examples of introverted terminology that has become commonplace in Japanese language.

Have you heard of any of the terms in the video? And do you think we should start introducing verbiage like this into the English language?

Most people already know about Disneyland and DisneySea, but there are so many other theme parks in Japan that you're missing out on!

Whether you're a hello Kitty fan, a Ghibli fan, or a fan of sitting in a piping hot onsen, there's a theme park for you, you just have to know where it is. And personally, I'm not much of a rides guy, but if you're looking for the craziest and scariest roller coasters, then you're not going to find that at Tokyo Disneyland 😭

Let me know in the comments which theme parks in Japan you have been to and which ones are the best in your opinion.

What's the worst thing you've ever said in Japanglish? I'm just terrible at language in general so I don't think until it's too late...

There's so many different ways to say congratulations in Japanese. And it all depends on the occasion.

Whether you're getting married, or it's your birthday, or you're having a baby, or you're graduating from school; it's good to know the right terminology in Japanese because there is always something to celebrate 🎊

Let me know in the comments what you're celebrating and let me congratulate you in Japanese!

I know that a lot of people talk about day trips from Tokyo because it's so easy to travel in this area. But people don't necessarily talk about the goods and the bads of each day trip from Tokyo.

The last thing you want to do is have high expectations for a day trip and then arrive and be thoroughly disappointed because it's not what you wanted it to be. Now, you can be like me and just never have any expectations, or be aware of what each day trip is actually going to consist of so that you can taper your expectations and know what you want and don't want to do.

And because these suggestions are being made for one of my friends going to Tokyo for the very first time this week, I wanted to be as transparent and real as possible, so I hope that you can all take something away from it too!

Let me know in the comments your favorite day trip from Tokyo, I'm going to need some new recommendations for my next trip!

Safe to say I don't have much rizz when I'm in Japan. That explains why I'm still single 💀💀💀

If you're looking to study Japanese and Japan in the near future, the process to get approved by a language school just got more difficult.

Previously, if you did not have a University degree, you could complete 150 hours of Japanese study in order to get accepted into a Japanese language program.

If you're planning Japan trip this year, it's going to be three times more expensive!!!

Wait a second, is it really?

I keep seeing articles about all of the price increases in Japan that are happening in 2026 and while some are pretty shocking, if you are a tourist who does not need a visa to go to Japan, then honestly you will be fine.

There is truth in the fact that they are raising tourist taxes by three times. And if you can tell me how much the initial taxes have been, then you already know that they shouldn't be too big of a deal.

But if you live in a country where you need a dedicated visa in order to visit Japan or you are a Japan resident looking for permanent residency or working visas in Japan, the rules and regulations as well as the cost have drastically changed this year.

If you want me to break down everything that's changing in a more extensive video, let me know in the comments! And what do you think about these price changes in Japan this year?

Sorry for the blur in the first clip but my camera really wanted to focus on the skin care instead of my face.

You know what would have helped, if I was using then maybe the camera would be tracking my face better 🤣😂🤞

But yes, I'm always down to simplify my routines because there's not enough hours in the day, especially to take care of yourself. So I'm super happy that Kizen is letting me try their skincare line!

Will be letting you guys know how it goes, stay tuned! And comment "kirei" if you want to learn more!

If today was my birthday, these are the places I would go to claim my birthday freebies in Tokyo.

Now honestly, I'm not really the guy to go and claim all of the birthday freebies because I'm a lazy piece of 💩. But if you're already in Tokyo for your birthday, there are some really cool perks that you can claim.

A word of advice though, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PASSPORT if you want to claim any of these. Many of these promotions are also only claimed via the Japanese version of the app, so going to restaurants or stores without having the Japanese version of the app downloaded means you'll have a much more difficult time claiming these rewards.

Whether you try to claim these birthday perks or not, you're still going to have a great time in Tokyo, but a little free thing here or there never hurt anyone 🍜🔥🤞

Let me know what you usually do to celebrate your birthday when you're in Japan and if you have claimed any of these freebies before!
