🎉 Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Kusakabe Folk Crafts Museum! 🏛️

✨ Step back in time and explore the history and traditions of Takayama at the Kusakabe Folk Crafts Museum.

The building has long served as the Kusakabe Family residence but was sadly destroyed in a fire in 1875. Four years later, it was rebuilt by Hida’s master artisans, who are renowned throughout Japan for their exceptional woodworking skills. This museum stands as a testament to this remarkable craftsmanship, and the building was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1966.

🏡 Today, the Kusakabe Folk Crafts Museum is open for visitors to explore and experience the atmosphere of old Takayama! Enjoy a cup of tea in the lounge and admire the beautiful architecture all around.

🏛️ Gifu City Museum of History Reopens This November! 🏛️

Located in the heart of Gifu Park, just a short walk from the Mount Kinka Ropeway and the Rakuichi Market, the Gifu City Museum of History will reopen on November 3rd after its renewal.

This museum is the perfect place to discover Gifu’s rich history, from prehistoric times, through the warring states period, and all the way to modern times.

🏯 While Gifu Castle is currently closed for reconstruction and earthquake-resistance upgrades, the Gifu City Museum of History offers a great opportunity to learn more about Gifu Castle and the life of its famous warlord, Oda Nobunaga!

Visiting Gifu outside of ukai season (May 11th to October 15th)? Don’t worry! This fantastic museum is open year-round, making it the perfect place to learn about ukai no matter when you visit!
