🌿 Early summer in Shirakawa-go 💜

With May coming to an end, we’re welcoming the transition from spring into summer. 🌸➡️☀️
Up in the northern mountainous regions of Gifu, the summer heat comes a bit later than in the south, making now the perfect time to visit!

As the cherry blossom season comes to a close, the scenery transforms from pink hues 🌸 to verdant greens landscapes 💚 with pops of blue and purple as hydrangea season approaches! 💙💜

⚠️ When visiting Shirakawa-go, help us preserve this beautiful area by:
🚌 Traveling by bus — the roads and parking lots get very busy, so help reduce traffic by taking the bus!
🚭 Refraining from smoking —these traditional houses are extremely flammable!
🗑️ Leaving no trace—please take your rubbish back home with you!
📸 Please remember that this scenic village is still home to local residents. Be respectful of their privacy when exploring and taking photographs.
