二十四節気（にじゅうしせっき）とは、「太陰太陽暦」において春夏秋冬を24の季節に区分したもの。季節を象徴する名前には、それぞれに意味が込められており、旬を迎える食べ物があります。
本日20日からは、たっぷりと養分がため込まれた恵みの雨が降り注ぎ、百穀を潤す「穀雨（こくう）」。春の終わりが近づき、新緑が一段とまぶしくなってきました。田植えや種まきの準備がはじまり、トラクターの後ろには、おこされた土の中にいる虫に狙いを定めた鳥たちの存在がいます。
たけのこも旬を迎え、ワカメと合わせた「若竹煮」が食べられるのもこの頃です。このような、同じ時期に旬を迎える海の幸と山の幸が組み合わさった料理を「であいもの」と呼びます。
The 24 solar terms divide the lunar calendar into 24 seasons. Each name that symbolizes a season has a meaning and there are also foods that are in season.
The "穀雨(grain rain)" begins today, bringing nutritious rain and providing water for hundreds of grains. As the end of spring approaches, the lush green leaves become even more vibrant. When preparations begin for planting rice or sowing seeds, birds can be seen gathering behind the tractors, targeting insects hidden in the tilled soil.
This is also the time when bamboo shoots are in season and when they are combined with wakame seaweed to make "wakatake ni" (boiled bamboo shoots). Dishes like this that combine seafood and mountain produce that are in season at the same time are called "deaimono(things of encounter)."
