COWORKING FES 2013
The following event information in English is provided by 47RONIN~ Global Residential Coworking Space in Kyoto (47ronin.co)
Coworking spaces have been springing up all over the world, including Japan where such collaborative workspaces start to appear in Tokyo and other cities. As Japanese companies are no longer keeping the tradition of life long employment, and as Japanese people started to adopt a new way of career development by being freelancers or entrepreneurs, these early adaptors or risk takers found their new workspaces in these innovative spaces where their ideas bounces off one another. Even “salaryman”, “NEET” (not in education, employment, nor training), housewives, and students have found inspiration, and a sense of community in these places, and started to roll out their side projects in their spare time.
Nonetheless, in Kyoto, with just a handful of coworking spaces spread across the city, there is already a big community of coworking spaces and coworkers. This is achieved through collaborative “Jelly” events where once a month, one of the coworking spaces opens its door for all coworker to get together to meet, to share, and to inspire (the usual coworking thingy). Together, we are driving a movement such that now is the time for something BIG.
