At the end of the year, we had wonderful guests visiting us all the way from Lebanon in the Middle East.
They shared that one of their relatives lives in Tokyo, and they were able to speak a little Japanese as well.
We enjoyed chatting about tea, and they mentioned that matcha—and even hojicha—has become very popular recently.
They clearly have a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, and they were especially delighted when they changed into hakama and samue. Their smiles at that moment were truly memorable.
They prepared matcha themselves and enjoyed both classic matcha and matcha lattes together.
They seemed to have a lovely, relaxed time, savoring each cup.
They also really loved the initial charm attached to their bamboo whisk (chasen), which made the experience feel even more special for them.
It was a joyful and heartwarming moment to share Japanese tea culture with guests who genuinely appreciate it.
