Despite the rain, guests from around the world joined our “Tone Unga Handcrafting & Naturewalking Tour” this past Saturday. ✨

We strolled through the historic Tone Unga (Tone Canal) area, where 130 cherry blossom trees that line the canal were in full bloom. It was no surprise that the word “sakura (cherry blossom)” appeared everywhere throughout the day. 🌸

During our first stop at Brasserie Shinkawa, we got a taste of their delicious Kabayaki/Shirayaki Unagi Onigiri Bentos, and encountered a surprise koto performance! Afterward, everyone got the chance to try the instrument, and quickly learned to play the classic folk song, “Sakura Sakura.” 🎶

Next, we visited Tone Unga Community Center (Tone Unga Koryuukan) for a hands-on calligraphy experience. After a quick crash course on traditional techniques by Shigeno Daien Sensei of Sanyushoen, we put our brushes to paper and wrote the kanji for “sakura,” using centuries-old techniques. 🖌️

We then made a pit stop at Takaramono to Ribon for some freshly made Taiyaki. Many of us ordered their seasonal Sakura Taiyaki, filled with a white bean paste and salt-brined cherry blossoms, for a dynamically sweet and salty combo. 🌸

We wrapped up with a peaceful stroll along the canal, surrounded by all the colors of spring in full bloom!🌱

あいにくの雨にもかかわらず、先週の土曜日に開催された「利根運河手作り＆ネイチャーウォーキングツアー」には、様々な国の方からご参加いただきました。✨

歴史ある利根運河周辺を散策し、運河沿いに並ぶ130本の桜が満開を迎えていました。ツアー中、色んな形で「さくら」に出会うことができました。🌸

最初に訪れたブラッスリーしんかわでは、ほっぺが落ちるほどおいしい鰻の蒲焼・白焼きおにぎり弁当をいただき、なんとびっくり、お琴の演奏もやっていました！その後は、実際に琴を体験し、伝統的な楽曲「さくらさくら」をみんなで弾けるようになりました。🎶

次に、利根運河交流館を訪れ、書道体験に参加。三友書園の茂野柰園先生から、伝統的なお習字の技法を少し教わり、皆で筆を取り、「桜」という漢字きれいな色紙に書きました。🖌️

おやつの時間には宝物とリボンに立ち寄り、焼きたてのたい焼きを堪能しました。多くの参加者が季節限定のさくらたい焼きを注文し、白餡と桜の花の塩漬けが入った、ハーモニーあふれる味わいを楽しみました。🌸

最後は、春が満開に色とりどりの景色に囲まれながら、運河沿いをゆったりと散歩したのち、ツアーは終わりを迎えました。🌱

The city of Nagareyama celebrated the 110th anniversary of the Ryutetsu Nagareyama Line at the Ryutetsu Beer Train Festival on Saturday, March 14th. 🚃

The trainyard of Nagareyama Station transformed into an unforgettable evening filled with live music, craft beer, and delicious cuisine, right on the train tracks of the Ryutetsu. 

Guests enjoyed the local gourmet from Nagareyama and Matsudo, while Ryutetsu Premium Pass or Gourmet Train Car Pass holders feasted on special hor d'oeuvres served right aboard the train cars! 🍝

Folks also had the rare opportunity to explore the inside of the trainyard, which is normally closed to the public, sampling different tastes of local craft beer, while taking in the powerful performances by A-Soul Train, and other talented musicians. 🍻

The festival featured a special appearance by Ryunoshin, the mascot of the Ryutetsu Nagareyama Line, who quickly became a fan-favorite. 🐶

For one special evening, guests followed the historic train tracks back in time, celebrating 110 years of the Ryutetsu Nagareyama Line’s rich history! 🎤

流山駅の車両基地は、ライブステージやクラフトビール、美味しいグルメを堪能できる特別な空間へ変身し、お客様が素敵なひとときを過ごしました。🍝

線路の上で開催される流鉄BEER電車では、流山と松戸のローカルなグルメを色々楽しむことができ、地元のクラフトビールを飲み比べながら、A-Soul Trainをはじめとするアーティスト達の迫力ある演奏に心をを奪われました。🍻

普段は一般公開されていない車両基地の内部を見学できる貴重な機会となり、プレミアムパスやグルメ車両パスの方々は、車内で提供される特別なオードブルも楽しみました。

さらに、流鉄流山線のマスコット「りゅうのしん」も登場し、大人気でした！🐶

たった一夜の特別なイベントでは、お客様たちと歴史ある線路をたどりながら、流鉄流山線の110年の歩みを一緒に振り返り、とても特別な思いでとなりました。🎤

Enjoy the spring season to the fullest at Unga Waterside Park (Unga Mizube Koen), the perfect spot for flower‑viewing and picnics!🌸

Located in Nagareyama, Chiba, Unga Waterside Park is a symbolic landmark stretching along the 8.5 km Tone Unga (Tone Canal), which connects the Tone River with the Edogawa River.🌸

In spring, the cherry blossom trees burst into full bloom all at once, painting the entire park in a cheerful shade of pink. Visitors from near and far come to the Unga Waterside Park to admire the beautiful scenery of the season, spread out picnic mats beneath the blossoms, and spend the day enjoying hanami (flower viewing).

The park also features several benches where you can sit and relax, while capturing photos of the stunning scenery, including the cherry blossoms reflected on the surface of the canal, and the petals dancing gracefully in the breeze.📸✨

In May, the park transforms in celebration of Children’s Day, when colorful koi‑fish windsocks (koinobori) are displayed across the canal, creating a spectacular view.🎏🍡

With several bike paths running through it, the park is also an ideal spot for cyclists and runners. 😊🌿

【お花見もピクニックも🌸運河水辺公園で春満喫✨】

千葉県流山市にある運河水辺公園は、利根川と江戸川を結ぶ約8.5kmの運河沿いに広がる、桜並木がシンボルの公園です🌸

春になると運河沿いの桜が一斉に咲き誇り、景色一面がやさしいピンク色に染まります。

桜の見頃には多くの花見客で賑わい、鯉のぼりが泳ぐ5月の季節にはピクニックや散策を楽しむ人々の姿も🎏🍡

Join us! Hop into your trekking shoes for a fun stroll through nature in Tone Unga, also known as the Oasis of the Capital City!🌱🌼

Along the way, we will stop for a patio lunch at Brasserie Shinkawa for an onigiri bento, and enjoy a fun crafting activity where we will try out traditional Japanese calligraphy, which includes an elegant souvenir!🍙

Come stroll with us through the pastoral spring colors of the Tone Unga area! It may also be right in time for cherry blossom season, if we are lucky!🌸

**Please note that this is a tour meant for people of foreign nationalities only.

Get a glimpse into the beautiful Japanese tradition of Hinamatsuri in Nagareyama Honcho! 🎎

Every year, the charming historic district of Nagareyama Honcho celebrates Hinamatsuri, with the townscape adorned with beautiful Japanese dolls and traditional decorations!

Nagareyama Honcho is located less than one hour from Tokyo, where you can wander the area, meet local shop owners with fun stories to share, all while taking part in the Hinamatsuri festivities!

Explore the shops and restaurants and find beautiful Japanese Doll displays and other elegant decorations to celebrate this ancient tradition.

This video shows you a glimpse of this year’s Hinamatsuri (on March 3rd), but it's also not too late to still take part this weekend. Some stores will still have their decorations up until March 8th (Sun.)!
