Not every place needs to be loud or over-the-top to be memorable. Sometimes it’s the cafés you randomly stop at on an ordinary day that end up becoming your favorites. Curry Cafe Franklyn has been that place for me.

If you’re exploring central Okinawa, it’s an easy stop for lunch or dinner. They offer a variety of homemade curries, vegetarian options, and English menus, making it an easy choice whether you’re a local or visiting the island. Just keep in mind they’re closed on Mondays, so plan your visit accordingly.

Here’s everything you need to know before you go:

-Located inside Koza Music Town in Okinawa City
-Open from 10:00 AM–6:00 PM (last admission 5:30 PM)
-Closed Wednesdays (or the following weekday if Wednesday is a holiday), plus December 31–January 1
-Admission: ¥300 for adults, ¥100 for elementary, junior high, and high school students, and free for preschool-aged children.
-Parking is available in the Koza Music Town garage with discounted rates for museum visitors.

This is one of the best places to learn the history of Eisa before experiencing it at a local festival.

Whether it’s neighbors gathering outside at sunset, friends lingering over coffee, or family sharing stories long after the meal is over, yuntaku is the simple act of making time for one another. It’s a reminder that conversation isn’t just about words… it’s about connection.

What to Do if You’re Bitten by a Habu!

1. Stay as calm and still as possible.
2. Call 119 or get to the nearest hospital as soon as possible.
3. Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing before swelling starts.
4. Keep the bitten limb below heart level and limit movement.
5. If it’s safe, remember what the snake looked like… but don’t try to catch or kill it.
6. Do not cut the wound, suck out the venom, apply ice, or use a tourniquet.

The sooner you receive antivenom and medical care, the better your chances of a full recovery.
