The famous landmark of Asakusa: Kaminari-mon. It is said this "Thunder Gate" was constructed over 1000 years ago by a samurai general, to fulfill his desire for peace and prosperity. The gate suffered damages from several fires; its current form was donated by the founder of the famous Japanese electrical manufacturer, Panasonic. Its impressive paper lanterns, which are 3.9m high with a 3.3m diameter, and weighing about 700kg, are replaced every decade or so.

The construction of Osaka Castle (大阪城, Ōsakajō) started in 1583 on the former site of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple, which had been destroyed by Oda Nobunaga thirteen years earlier. Toyotomi Hideyoshi intended the castle to become the center of a new, unified Japan under Toyotomi rule. It was the largest castle at the time.

The Naruto whirlpools are a "natural phenomenon" that occur when intense tidal currents occur due to the tidal difference between the Seto Inland Sea and the Kii Channel. It is said to be the largest whirlpool in the world, reaching a maximum diameter of 20m during spring and autumn spring tides. The most powerful whirlpools occur during the time of the day when the tide is the fastest, and you cannot see the whirlpools during the time when the tide does not flow.

Built in 1240, Bicchu Matsuyama Castle is both an Important Cultural Property of Japan and is counted among Japan’s top 100 castles. The castle is located atop a mountain at an altitude of 430 m, making it the highest fortress with an existing castle tower in Japan. Visitors to the castle are treated to a spectacular sight, especially in the early mornings of fall and winter when the clouds spread out to form a “sea of clouds” around the castle. Also in fall, when the trees change color, the landscape becomes painted in a deep vermilion as if the castle walls were aflame, offering visitors a truly majestic sight.

In the spring, over 350 wisteria trees, including the 160-year-old wisteria trellis covering 600 tatami mats, the 80-meter-long white wisteria tunnel, and Kibana wisteria, are in full bloom.
As for the order of blooming wisteria colors, you can enjoy them for about a month in order of light red, purple, white, and yellow. In addition, there are 5,000 azaleas and 1,500 rhododendrons that can be seen at the same time.
