[Fresh Strawberries from Saitama]

The season of delicious strawberries is upon us! 🍓 In Japan, "strawberry picking," a very popular event where tourists pick their favorite strawberries and eat them by themselves, has begun. Many popular strawberry products in Japan come directly from Saitama Prefecture!

The first variety of strawberry we will introduce is KOIMINORI. KOIMINORI is a large, sweet strawberry that is low in acid! It has a great texture that much like apples. The KOIMINORI’ name comes from “hearts” - If you eat this strawberry, you might to fall in love yourself! ♥

Next, we introduce a relatively new strawberry, "AMARIN". "AMARIN" is an original variety of Saitama Prefecture. It is a rare strawberry that can only be produced by those who are authorized to grow it 😲...! The sugar content of "AMARIN" is very high, and surprisingly, it has a higher sugar content than some melons.

Next, we have delightful products made from strawberries such as pound cake, pudding, and cider. Starting with… Strawberry pound cake 🍰! Imported directly from Kawagoe, known as "Koedo", this luxurious pound cake is made with 100% "KOEDO ICHIGO-Haruka-" strawberries produced by . With the concept of "Delicious & Happy," KOEDO ICHIGO @ FARM also produces tomatoes, etc. in addition to strawberries.

The strawberries used in the pound cake have a sweet mellow aroma and a rich flavor with just the right amount of sour and sweet 😋. The strawberries are cultivated with the help of microorganisms in the soil, using as little pesticides as possible. Pound cake goes well with tea, coffee, etc. Sounds like a good snack for tea ☕ time, no?

Finally, strawberry 🍮 pudding! From the Nagatoro area in Saitama Prefecture, rich in nature, we offer a melt-in-your-mouth pudding with the aroma of sweet and sour strawberries. The strawberries are grown with love and care, using as little pesticides as possible. The pudding tastes even better when ice cream is added on top.

[The origins 🍋 of Yuzu!]

Japan is home to many famous fruits and foods, and one of its most famous might be the Yuzu citrus fruit. However, not many people know where exactly Yuzu came from, and how it came to be one of Japan’s most notable exports.

One town that has great history with Yuzu is Muroyama Town, Saitama. Old manuscripts tracing all the way back to the late Edo ⛩️ period mention Yuzu fruit being provided as souvenirs. These lovely fruits were soon being shipped 🚢 to Tokyo under the name of “Katsuraki Yuzu”, and by the 1950s, This town was one of Japan’s leaders of Yuzu.

Nowadays, Yuzu isn’t commonly eaten on its own but has a host of uses as a cooking ingredient! Yuzu can be used in jam, made with milk, drank with water, or enjoyed with miso!
One might wonder, why aren't other countries producing more Yuzu? That’s because this particular fruit grows extremely slowly, taking up to 10 years to bear fruit. Furthermore, Yuzu’s thorny spines can make it hard for the fruit to grow without being scratched or bruised. Farmers have to take extreme care when harvesting to avoid damaging the fruit.

The farmers from Muroyama Town, Saitama hope you will soon try their Katsuraki Yuzu 🤩!

[The delicious 😋 Katsuraki Yuzu]

Coming directly from the home of Yuzu 🍋, Muroyama Town Saitama - three delicious Yuzu products are arriving in Singapore!

Our first export is the main ingredient behind our other imported products, the delicious Yuzu Katsuraki. Large, thick-skinned and fragrant, Katsuraki Yuzu is known for its strong, sweet flavour. Normal Yuzu is already more intense than traditional lemons or limes, so use it in smaller quantities in drinks 🍹 or as seasoning for your recipes! When thinking of ways to use Yuzu, think about it as a similar, yet stronger substitute for acidic fruits like oranges or limes.

Coming up second is a drink for our adults, Yuzu Sake 🍶 Maximum! Yuzu Sake is simply sake infused with yuzu juice, creating a lower alcohol and much more refreshing drink than traditional Sake. This sake is packed full of the deliciousness of Yuzu juice, freshly harvested from Muroyama Town. The aroma from this sake is enough to make your mouth water, with its smell much more fragrant than an ordinary sake.

Last but not least is the Kaysuraki Yuzu Juice! Made from the juice of about 20 Katsuraki Yuzu, this juice’s outstanding aroma can be sprinkled onto just about anything. Sprinkle a small amount onto meat or fish to make the flavour sing, or add them to your 🫗 beverage for an entirely new dimension of taste! You can even add it to a glass of water, which can reportedly help reduce fatigue and relax the mind.

Looking forward to get some Katsuraki Yuzu for yourself? It’s available at Every Store, 51 Upper Serangoon Rd, #01-12/13 The Poiz Centre, Singapore 347697 from 1 Dec to 14 Dec!
