NIKKO WORLD HERITAGE HIGHLIGHT-TOUR
Would you like a guided tour with a government certified tour interpreter to understand the history and to have a special experience?
This guided tour takes you around Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Rinnoji Temple (Sanbutsu-do) which are registered at UNESCO World Heritage sites. Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Sanbutsu-do are characterized by elaborate carvings, magnificent architecture, and deep ties with the nature of Nikko, but they are also sacred spots that contain the intentions and wishes of those in power at that time, which cannot be well understood by just looking at them⛩️

Tours are held every Friday and include a ticket to Toshogu Shrine and Rinnoji Temple and a convenient bus ticket that can be used after the tour!

📍Isoyama Shrine - Hydrangea Flowers
Isoyama Shrine is located in Kanuma City in Tochigi. It is a historical shrine built in 988 during Japan’s Heian Era (the 2nd year of the Eien Era). This shrine is well known for its Hydrangea Festival, which is held every year from mid-June to early July. Around 2,500 hydrangea flowers of 28 varieties are planted in the approach to the shrine and around the main shrine building in the shrine grounds. During the best time to see them, the green of the cedar trees and the colors of the hydrangea create a beautiful contrast. In addition, during the festival lanterns are lit from sunset to 8PM, letting you enjoy a truly magical atmosphere.

📍Akabori Japanese Iris Garden
The Akabori Japanese Iris Garden is located in Isesaki City in Gunma. It is a famous spot for seeing flowers, as around 25,000 Iris flowers beautifully bloom in the Onna-bori, a nationally designated historic site. From early to late June every year, colorful white and purple flowers bloom together across around 500 meters, creating truly magical scenery. The coming of early summer is the perfect time to visit the Akabori Japanese Iris Garden, with its beautifully blooming Iris flowers.

📍Asakusa Sumo Club
The Asakusa Sumo Club Annex is an entertainment restaurant opened in the Asakusa area of Tokyo on February 20, 2025. Here, you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine while directly experiencing sumo, a traditional culture of Japan. This restaurant serves high-quality Japanese foods including chanko nabe supervised by a former sumo wrestler, sukiyaki using domestic A5 rank beef, and tempura. They also have a vegetarian menu. 📍Ashio Copper Mine - Tsudo Substation
The Tsudo Substation is one important facility that conveys the history of the Ashio Copper Mine to the present day. From the mid-Taisho period, it functioned as the core facility managing the supply of electricity in the mine. The Tsudo Substation was located near the Ashio Copper Mine office, and is the only substation in operation among the facilities at the Ashio Copper Mine which are no longer in use or were demolished. It is an important facility that tells the history of expanded facilities and changes in response to increased demand for electricity. *Only the exterior area can be visited. The inside of the building and the premises cannot be visited.

📍Ryuzu Falls - Japanese Rhododendron Flowers

Ryuzu Falls is located in Nikko City in Tochigi. It is a beautiful waterfall known as one of the three great waterfalls of Oku-Nikko. In particular, the Japanese Rhododendron flowers blooming around the falls from spring to early summer make the scenery even more impressive. The best time to see the Japanese Rhododendron flowers here is from late May to early June every year. During this time, vivid reddish violet flowers beautifully bloom on both banks of the falls, creating a beautiful contrast to the white water flow. Along with the fresh greenery, it creates expansive scenery that charms visitors.

📍Forest Park – Poppy Flowers

Musashi Kyuryo National Government Park is located in Saitama. It charms visitors from spring to early summer with its colorful poppy flowers. From early April to early May, around 700,000 Iceland Poppy flowers bloom in yellow, orange, and white, adding bright colors to the fresh greenery. Mid-May to June is also the best time to see the red Shirley Poppy flowers, which brilliantly color the park. 📍Solamachi – Sakasai Soba Shodai

The soba restaurant Shodai, located on 6F of Tokyo Solamachi uses select ingredients from across Japan, including buckwheat flour from Hokkaido and 2-year aged premium katsuobushi , top-class kelp from Rishiri, and wasabi from Azumino. They serve soba carefully prepared by their skilled artisans, which is well-known for its high quality. The white curry udon is especially getting a lot of attention and is a hot topic on social media. This dish looks unique with its copious amounts of potato mousse (foam), and is popular with many of the restaurant’s guests.

📍Ashikaga Flower Park - Rainbow Garden

Ashikaga Flower Park is located in Ashikaga City in Tochigi. The Rainbow Garden will be open here from mid-May to early June. Various kinds of flowers, including roses, rhododendron flowers, and clematis (leather flowers), bloom one after the other and brightly color the park.
