Hi all!
Sorry for the long time of inactivity.
Still we cannot see the end (or maybe soon we can, hopefully!) of this hard period for everyone, but we hope to bring you some inspiration for the time everything will be over.

From this post for a while we will share a photographic journey across Yamaguchi prefectures, the westernmost one of Honshū. Yamaguchi is still relatively less visited than the bordering Fukuoka and Hiroshima, yet has a lot of places worth visiting.

This wonderful pagoda tower and the surrounding garden is located in the Rurikō-ji temple in Yamaguchi City.

Mugenkyō is a fascinating valley deep in the most hidden part of Fukushima prefecture. Here, the fog spreading on Tadami River in the morning is one of the most photographed sights.

June in most of areas of Japan is the rainy season, yet another beautiful moment to visit it, for the blooming of many hydrangeas (ajisai, in Japanese). 🍀

Last week we went to the Ōhirasan, in Tochigi, about 1,5 hours from Tokyo. Compared to similar spots in Kamakura, for example, here it is less crowded and probably has a more rural taste.

Ōhirasan Shrine is famous for its very long 1000+ steps "hydrangea slope", where you are going to climb your way to the main shrine along thousands of blue, pink, and purple flowers.

As many of you can not be in Japan this year, we hope to be a good inspiration for your future trip to Japan!

Everyone loves islands, with their slow life and that exotic feel. Then what about an island with a lot of cats? Tashiro Island, in Miyagi Prefecture is one of the many "cats islands" of Japan! 😼

Find in our bio the link to learn more about it!

Have you visited or you know other islands in Japan or in the world with so many cats?

Did you know that from Tokyo port you can jump in only a few hours to the subtropical paradise of the Izu Islands? Learn more in our article, we hope you will enjoy!

EN > JA > IT

We are now at the Unedori shrine in Tōno city, Iwate. This shrine has something different than the others. Can you notice?⠀

The red stripes!⠀

Actually, here is enshrined a Kami (Japanese god) that boosts love fortune (en-musubi, in Japanese). ⠀

The red tissue stripes are used instead of the wood tablets to write prayers, mainly aimed to find a partner or to keep a stable relation. There is even a challenge! If you are able to bond one of these strips to a tree branch only with your left hand, you will meet your soulmate! ⠀

We don't know if there are other similar shrines in Japan, but it seemed quite unique!⠀

-------

Conoscete altri santuari particolari in Giappone?

From our last year journey to Iwate, this time we want to show you the beautiful coastline of Goishi Kaigan, in Ofunato City. This area was heavily damaged by the tsunami of March 11th 2011, and the recovery is still long. We were touched by the gorgeous of these natural views of the Minami Sanriku Coast.⠀
