A traditional scene protecting thatched-roof villages❗️
The must-see spectacle: “Miyama Simultaneous Water Discharge”🐳
To protect Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato, a designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings🛖, fire🔥 poses the greatest threat
to the village’s 39 thatched-roof houses❗️
For this reason, fire prevention inspections and training🧯🧑🚒 are conducted twice a year, in spring and autumn.
As part of these inspections, an event known as the **“Simultaneous Water Discharge”**💧 takes place.
Fire hydrants throughout the village spray water high into the air all at once.
Although originally a safety drill meant to preserve Miyama’s traditional rural landscape, the dramatic scene has become a popular attraction,
drawing many visitors from outside the area😎.
If you’d like to witness this impressive spectacle yourself, plan a trip to the original landscapes of Miyama, Kyoto, on May 20🚌.
⚠️ Please note that all parking requires advance reservation.

\The Kameoka Mitsuhide Festival: A day when Kyoto's Kameoka is immersed in the spirit of the Sengoku period/

A warrior procession passes through the refreshing breeze of new greenery during Kameoka Mitsuhide Festival.

"Mitsuhide" refers to Akechi Mitsuhide, who also appears in this year's historical drama on NHK.

Mitsuhide pacified the region that is now Kameoka on the orders of Oda Nobunaga and built Tanba Kameoka Castle. Serving Nobunaga alongside Toyotomi Hideyoshi and others, he is best known as the man who assassinated Nobunaga in the Honnoji Incident.

However, records reveal he was deeply compassionate. He often listed the retainers who died in battle and mentioned their injuries in letters praising their achievements - a rare thing for the time.

This festival is the perfect opportunity to discover aspects of Kameoka and Akechi Mitsuhide that you may not yet know! 🫶🏻
