If you are vacationing or honeymooning somewhere on the Kenyan coast, you could use it as an opportunity for a bit of adventure. Many towns along the coast, such as Mombasa, act as a lucrative gateway to safari adventures near the beach.
This four-day and three-night trip is ideal for small groups and couples. It will take you to the largest national park in Kenya- Tsavo National Park. You will visit both sides in between a trip to Amboseli National Park.
The stunning views, close encounters with wildlife, and rugged environment are best to experience an adventurous break from the beach vibes.
Here is what your itinerary will look like:
Day 1: Mombasa Tsavo West National Park
You will start your trip when a driver picks you from Mombasa in the morning. Then, you will go on a short road trip and reach Tsavo West National Park. The trip should be full of wildlife and beautiful views. You will arrive shortly, check-in, and freshen up before lunch.
Day 2: Tsavo West National Park to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast and checking out, your driver will take you to Amboseli National Park. The park's main feature is a stunning view of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro at a distance.
After arrival and checking in, you will have lunch then freshen up in preparation for the afternoon game drive.You have the following accommodation options:
• Sentrim Amboseli Lodge. This lodge stands out thanks to the stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro. It has tents with luxury bathrooms and private terraces. The lodge also has a gorgeous swimming pool, dining space, whirlpool bath, and lounge bar.
• Kilima Safari Camp. At Kilima Safari Camp, all the rooms face the view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Moreover, many surrounding watering holes attract wildlife daily. You will have access to self-contained luxurious rooms. Additionally, you will have access to a swimming pool, massage center, plus dining and bar services.
The driver will take you around the park, noting some of the stunning animals in their natural habitat.
Expect to see elephants, wild dogs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lions, and crocodiles. You will also meet smaller creatures such as mongooses and porcupines. The park also has prolific birdlife of about 600 species. This includes the mighty ostrich.
The day will end with a sunset trip back to your accommodations for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Amboseli to Tsavo East National Park
After breakfast and checking out, a driver will transfer you to Tsavo East National Park. It is scenic and not shot of stunning landscapes. You have the option of checking in at one of three lodges.
Sentrim Tsavo East. This permanent camp overlooks a watering hole, giving you stunning views during your stay there. Expect elephants and buffaloes to visit while you are there. The luxurious accommodations feature self-contained rooms with modern amenities. The Sentrim Camp has a restaurant and bar, beauty spa, swimming pool, and whirlpool bath, to mention a few.
• Ashnil Aruba Lodge. This lodge has room and tent options. The hotel is on the banks of the Aruba Dam, surrounded by watering holes, so it attracts animal visitors. The area around is savannah grassland, making it easy to spot animals. You will have access to the swimming pool, a restaurant with excellent African cuisine, and a lounge bar with a touch of African decore.
• Voi Safari Lodge. And finally, this lodge is strategically sitting on high ground, overlooking Voi town. It has surrounding watering holes, giving you access to game viewing from the comforts of modern amenities. You will have access to stunning rooms with an African touch, plus a swimming pool, wireless internet, and laundry services. You may also get dinner with a show from traditional dancers on some nights.
After checking in to one of the options, you will have lunch and prepare for the afternoon game drive.
Tsavo East is home to leopards, dust-red elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. You will come across these animals plus waterbucks, lesser kudus, and gerenuks. Overhead, you will see large populations of birds as the park is home to more than 500 species.
Day 4: Return trip to Mombasa
The last day is a chance to capture the African sunrise before heading back to your beach vacation. Also, be sure to visit the gift shop for handmade crafts and souvenirs. Then, after breakfast, you will check out, and a driver will take you back to Mombasa.
