Throwing it back to our September 2025 sunrise walk in Lamu. 🌅✨

After hosting our very first Madaraka Day sunrise experience last year on our first birthday, we knew these early morning gatherings were becoming part of the Twende Tu story — slow sunrises, meaningful conversations, beautiful scenery, and community by the ocean. 🤍

As we get ready to celebrate our second birthday on Monday, June 1st, we’ve been reflecting on moments like these that shaped the journey. 🥹🎉

Two years of creating experiences in Lamu and Nairobi...

There’s something magical about watching the world wake up by the ocean 🌊

This Sunday, May 17th, join us for our next Twende Tu sunrise gathering at our beautiful new location — Manda Kitau beachfront at Angalia Kivuli. From 6AM to 10AM, we’re slowing down, soaking in the sea breeze and starting the day with music, community, art and good energy.

Scenes from Rebirth with and featuring this lovely wooden clothing stand custom made by , an amazing Swahili woodcarver and interior designer based in Lamu. Trying to get a venue for this event was a PAIN. We got so many rejections trying to collaborate with various locations in Shela and finally opted to host this special moment at our founder .akinyi’s home in Kashmir Village. It was the perfect setting for the event. We celebrated a true Rebirth moment and Teshie’s 31st birthday and got the best team of artists to help us design the space. It was a perfect collaboration with Umazi’s woodwork that’s rich in culture, paired with a special artist’s artwork of charcoal painted African masks that called onto our ancestors to bless the day, together with the sexy intimate paintings that made the space feel safe, free and full of love. We also had to create a runway on the rooftop. Teshie took advantage of the coral stones and sisal mats in her surrounding to create something natural and aligned with the environment that still made a statement. The design of the space was our favorite so far of all the events we’ve had in Lamu. DM us to purchase or rent any of the art pieces spotted
