Farewell Craig Elephant (1972–2026)

Today we say goodbye to Craig, Amboseli’s gentle giant and one of Africa’s most iconic elephants. Born in 1972, he lived an extraordinary 54 years, touching millions around the world.
I was honored to photograph him last year at 53, during a long birding and nature photography safari — Craig standing peacefully with Mount Kilimanjaro behind him. A moment I will cherish forever.
Gone, but never forgotten.

On our cool chilly morning at Sala Gate_Tsavo East we encoutered this White-bellied Bustard, they were male and female close to each other.
This is race erlangeri of South West Kenya to Central Tanzani

We had this close encounter of the gentle giant aka Elephant, feeding in the forest, we quickly took some few shots while the Car engine was running, before we could then drive away as we look for some birds in the forest. Birded with L.a. Hansen and James Apolloh
