Deadly Crackdown: Over 500 Killed in Tanzania’s Anti-Government Demonstrations
More than 500 people have reportedly lost their lives following a violent crackdown by Tanzanian security forces during ongoing anti-government demonstrations across several regions. What began as peaceful protests calling for democratic reforms, fair governance, and economic justice has now turned into one of the deadliest political crises in the country’s recent history.
According to eyewitnesses, human rights activists, and local media sources, the demonstrations—initially sparked by frustration over alleged corruption, unemployment, and restrictions on free speech—were met with heavy police and military deployment.
