Tsavo National Park, Spanning approximately 22,000 square kilometers, it is divided into two distinct regions: Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Tsavo East features vast, arid plains dotted with iconic baobab trees, while Tsavo West is characterized by its hilly volcanic terrain and lush vegetation.
Tsavo East is frequently visited by more visitors and easier to spot wildlife as it is less dense, it is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.
Tsavo West National Park may be smaller and have less wildlife than Tsavo East National Park, but its scenery more than makes up for it. , it is more mountainous and wetter, with swamps, Lake Jipe and the Mzima Springs. It is known for birdlife and for its large mammals. It is also home to a black rhino sanctuary ,Shetani Lava Flows, the Chaimu Crater… the different environments within the same park are absolutely fascinating.
