About 1,000 brown bears live in the vast forests adjacent to Kuhmo, Finland, and Petola Nature Centre is one of the best places to see these charismatic creatures.

This new itinerary includes a night in a hide watching the bears in their natural habitat. The wild boreal forests that straddle the Russian border are also home to wolves, wolverine and lynx.

The Pantanal, Brazil. While the Amazon usually gets all the attention as a wildlife-watching destination, the Pantanal is a much better place to see South America’s wildlife up close.

It is one of the world’s most spectacular wetlands and has an incredible density of wildlife.

The Pantanal is the best place in the world to see a number of threatened species including the endangered giant otter, jaguar, hyacinth macaw, South American tapir and the giant anteater.

Tiritiri Matangi Open Sanctuary - New Zealand. This sanctuary is also a conservation project.

In the 1980s conservationists spent ten years restoring the island (used as farmland in previous decades) to its natural habitat in hopes of bringing back native species.

Their hard work paid off! Today, the island is an “open sanctuary” where endangered species (like the vibrant takahē) are thriving in their natural setting again.

You can birdwatch and hike the island looking for little spotted kiwis, takahēs, and tuatara. To learn more visit their site tiritirimatangi.org.nz

Located just off the coast of South Australia, Kangaroo Island is all about wildlife. It is even named after one of its more numerous inhabitants.

The most epic wildlife attraction on the island, however, is not the kangaroos, but the breeding colony of the endangered Australian sea lions.

Apart from the sea lions, the island is home to New Zealand fur seals and Australia’s most iconic species such as eastern grey kangaroos, Tammar wallabies, koalas, short-beaked echidna, and platypus.

African elephants are not difficult animals to spot on the savanna. But for a truly close encounter, head to Addo Elephant Park in South Africa. Elephants are everywhere you look in Addo.

Apart from the elephants, Addo is a good place to see kudus, red hartebeests, elands, buffalos, and many small creatures from mongooses and meerkats to the rare flightless Addo dung beetle.

As we enter unprecedented times, there is a lot of uncertainty faced on what the next few months of life will look like. With every country’s government doing everything they can to contain the virus, we wish the best to everyone right now. As everyday life, businesses, and jobs are affected, the tourism industry is also seeing a dire effect. Especially the wildlife sanctuaries that we heavily support. As traveling has slowed down for good reasons, our sanctuaries unfortunately will be suffering greatly during these times. These sanctuaries rely almost fully on tourism and donations, as their local governments do not provide funding. In order to help sanctuaries and tour operators sustain their day-to-day operations, they would appreciate any donations during these times to help keep their animals safe and fed. You can donate to the .careproject in our bio, to help the elephants and operations at the continue, and we will also be promoting our other partner sanctuaries. Thanks everyone for your support, and we hope you all stay safe❤️🌏 @ All Around The World

As of early 2018, there are only around 3,890 tigers left in the wild, worldwide. To put that into perspective, there are more tigers in captivity in the USA than there are in the world’s wilderness areas. There are several issues relating to tiger tourism and to the endangered nature of the species generally.

Irresponsible tour operators offer close encounter attractions such as ‘petting’ which has large repercussions to the animals. Tigers are mistreated severely in these poor environments.

If your favorite animal is a tiger and you’re interested in booking a tour to see one, consider checking out a tiger safari.

Tiger safaris are the safest way to view tigers in the wild. It is also important to note that there could be a slim chance of seeing tigers, due to there large natural habitat to roam freely in.
