Are you adventurous enough?
Offering a unique way of game viewing by foot or on a mountain bike, the Hell's Gate National Park is the ultimate adventure seeker's paradise. Happy International Forest Day!
Harbouring most of the earth’s terrestrial biodiversity and driving more than 70% of the world’s total economy either directly or indirectly, forests are hosts to animals, birds and more than 300 million people. 25% of all the world’s medicines, the water we drink, the food we enjoy, the shelter we are under, and even the oxygen we breathe, all have an association with forests. However, deforestation and forest degradation continue to threaten this vital natural resource. Actions to combat these menaces are never-the-less slowly but surely picking momentum including enforcement of strict laws and policies on illegal logging, adoption of sustainable agroforestry practices, afforestation/re-afforestation campaigns whilst supporting innovations on sustainable fuels to replace the traditional firewood and charcoal. Home to over 300 species of birdlife including the dazzling Blue Headed Bee Eater, Black Billed Turaco, Turner’s Eremomela and Grey Parrots, to mention a few, sign up for an unforgettable nature walk through Kenya's only rainforest aka Kakamega Forest, sighting how this untouched paradise plays hosts to the resident butterflies, bush pigs, giant forest hedgehogs, monkeys among others that call this gem home.
