Tulimesasa is the Swahili meaning for 'let us farm now'.This social enterprise provides invaluable information on real-time farming, both crop growing and animal keeping in Africa. Farming is very technical and hands-on, thus you can only do it remotely to an extent.Currently, there exists no documented farm-level acreage or per animal head unit costs and income data. Also, we always take advantage

of community practices discerned through learning experiences by outlier farmers in the community. We therefore spend over 40% of our time in the field, doing agriculture projects in crop farming and livestock keeping as well as interacting with other farmers. There is also a very narrow path rarely followed - few stories of failure are shared, but for us, we will profile any Agricultural Projects which failed and provide our recommendations. Twitter:

It is said that a picture is worth more than a thousand words thus we do have a Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/tulimesasa. However, we have decided not to post any more videos, and apologize that most of the videos public are on development stage(one might say poor) but we are in the process of hiring a Video Editor.

It is not wise to try to convert pastoralists to abandon livestock keeping, instead create an avenue(market systems) for their animal products. It is a very tall order to convert one from an animal keeper to crops farming.

Also, freebies have been tried and will never work. These farmers will then ask where they will take their produce. There is no "pain" hence responsibility in them.Sustainability = zero.

The government will spend Sh5 billion in the next three planting seasons to assist farmers in famine-hit areas grow traditional drought-resistant crops.
