Regional Health Update -Ebola Outbreak in DRC
Trekkr Africa Safaris continues to closely monitor the regional health situation following the confirmed Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and reported cases in Uganda. The safety, well-being, and peace of mind of our guests remain our highest priorities.
Current travel and health status in East Africa
No Cases Reported: There are zero confirmed or reported cases of Ebola in Kenya or Tanzania.
Unrestricted Travel: There are currently no Ebola-related travel restrictions or border closures in place for travelers visiting Kenya and Tanzania.
Proactive Screening: As a standard precautionary measure, health authorities in both Kenya and Tanzania have increased surveillance and routine screening at all major points of entry.
Quarantine Facility Update: We are aware of discussions surrounding a proposed U.S.-backed Ebola quarantine facility in Kenya. This matter is currently under review by the Kenyan courts, and the High Court has extended the project's suspension. The facility is not operational, and this legal process has caused no disruption to travel or safari operations.
Health context
According to global health organizations, Ebola is not transmitted through casual contact or airborne means. It requires direct contact with the bodily fluids of a symptomatic individual. For leisure travelers on safari, who have no history of travel to affected areas or direct exposure to a confirmed case, the risk of contracting the virus remains exceptionally low.
Cancellation policy
As travel to Kenya and Tanzania remains fully open, Our standard cancellation terms and those of our suppliers remain applicable to all confirmed bookings.
Should official government restrictions, border closures, or formal travel advisories directly affecting travel to Kenya or Tanzania where most of our safaris are run, we will review and communicate any updates to our partners and guests without delay.
