Happy World Elephant Day! 🐘🌍

We celebrate the world's largest land animals and the incredible role elephants play in Kenya's ecosystems.

From the savannahs of Amboseli to the vast landscapes of Tsavo, elephants are an unforgettable part of the Kenyan safari experience. But beyond the incredible encounters, their survival depends on protecting their habitats and supporting conservation efforts.

There are wildlife encounters, and then there are moments that quietly change you.

To stand beside one of the world's last two northern white rhinos is to stand in the presence of both heartbreak and hope. To watch the gentle bond between a rhino and her caregiver is to witness conservation not as an idea, but as an act of love, patience, and unwavering commitment.

The Immersive Conservation Experience (ICE) invites you beyond the safari. For a few unforgettable days, you'll step behind the scenes of conservation and experience the extraordinary work of protecting what remains while helping shape what comes next.

Some stories aren't meant to be watched from afar. They're meant to be lived.

Book your ICE experience today via the link in our bio.

SWT foster family, we just released our latest monthly update β€” and what a month it was! In Ithumba, not one but two new grandbabies entered the fold: bright little Moon, followed by precious, precocious Tuck just four days later. Meanwhile, at Umani, hopeless flirt Lima Lima was busy entertaining a bevy of suitors β€” with no clear winner of her heart in sight! Our new rescues at Voi are settling in well, as is young Zuri at the Nursery. Daba and Kipekee are still struggling with their tiny, bruised egos (it’s hard to no longer be the newest, smallest baby in the herd!) but are adjusting admirably.

And of course, at Kaluku, one little hippo runs the show. If you haven’t yet witnessed Bumpy’s budding friendship with adorable Wangalla β€” pictured here β€” it’s unmissable.

β€”

If you’re a foster parent, find the latest update in your inbox or your account: https://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/account

Happy reading β€” and thank you for being part of our herd! Your support helps us to give the 100+ orphans in our care the family and the wild future they deserve.

β€”

Our global family of foster parents makes our work possible. Want to join our herd? Meet the orphans and find your perfect match: https://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans

Every morning at Ol Pejeta, the day begins the same way. The rhino caretakers arrive, the gates clank open, and Fatu and Najin pad out to greet them, recognising them not by sight but by scent and sound.

From there, the day unfolds at its own unhurried pace. A thorough scratchdown. A long wallow in the mud. Time spent sharpening their horns and hours of grazing, side by side, from dawn to dusk.

Today is Fatu’s birthday, and we could not let it pass without saying: thank you for letting us be part of your world.

Happy birthday, Fatu!
