The impala is known for its sharp senses and remarkable speed. Even while grazing, it remains constantly aware of its surroundings. With its athletic build and elegant horns, it is perfectly adapted to life on the savannah.

Impalas often live in herds and play an important role in the ecosystem. As a key prey species, their agility and quick reactions are essential for survival.

On safari, these moments reveal the delicate balance of life in the African wilderness. With AV Tours, you experience wildlife up close, in a calm and respectful way. ๐ŸŒฟ

The great egret is a patient and highly precise hunter. With its long neck and sharp bill, it moves slowly through wetlands and shallow waters, always alert for fish, insects or small amphibians. One swift movement is often all it takes.

Its bright white plumage and elegant posture make it not only striking to see, but also one of the most photogenic birds encountered on safari and nature journeys. Often solitary and fully focused, the great egret is always in its element.

With AV Tours, you discover that these quiet moments reveal just how perfectly balanced nature truly is. ๐ŸŒฟ

Zebras: strength in numbers ๐Ÿฆ“

Zebras almost always live in groups. These close-knit herds provide protection against predators and help individual animals blend into the group. Their distinctive black-and-white stripes play an important role in this.

Each zebra has a unique pattern, but together the stripes create visual confusion for predators, especially when the herd is moving.

Zebras are grazers and spend much of the day feeding on grass. In doing so, they play an important role in the ecosystem by keeping grasslands short and making space for other grazing animals.

The tree in this photo is an acacia, one of the most recognisable and important trees in the African landscape. Acacias are perfectly adapted to dry conditions. They have deep roots to reach water and small leaves that help reduce evaporation.

For many animals, the acacia is an important source of food and shelter. Giraffes feed on the leaves, birds use the branches to rest or nest, and other animals seek shade during the hottest parts of the day.

In this way, the acacia plays a vital role in the ecosystem and in daily life on the savannah.

The African elephant is the largest land mammal in the world and a vital part of the ecosystem. In this photo, two elephants are touching trunks, a form of communication and social bonding. Elephants are highly social animals and live in close-knit family groups led by an experienced matriarch.

In Tanzania, they are often found in open grasslands and national parks, where they travel long distances in search of food and water.

Through their behaviour, they help shape the landscape by opening up forests and creating water holes that benefit many other species.

This bird is a variable sunbird, commonly found in Tanzania. It is instantly recognisable by its shimmering blue-green head, purple chest, and bright yellow belly. In the sunlight, its colours seem to shift, making this bird especially striking to observe.

Variable sunbirds live in gardens, savannahs, and woodland edges and are often seen around flowering plants. With their long, curved beaks, they feed on nectar, but they also eat small insects. During a safari or around your lodge in Tanzania, you are likely to spot this energetic bird up close, flitting from flower to flower.

A small bird, but one that adds a remarkable splash of colour to the African landscape.

The lioness plays a central role within the lion pride. She does most of the hunting, protects the cubs, and guards the territory. With her sharp senses and strong cooperation with other lionesses, she is responsible for the majority of the prey they catch. ๐Ÿ’ช

During the day, she often rests on elevated spots such as termite mounds, giving her a clear view over the landscape to spot prey early. ๐Ÿ‘€๐ŸŒพ

On safari with AV Tours, encountering a lioness is a powerful moment, allowing you to experience her strength, calm presence, and vital role in the African savannah up close.

As the safari vehicle slowly makes its way along the dusty track, wildlife crosses our path and for a moment the savannah feels entirely ours. These are the moments when everything comes together. The landscape, the animals and that sense of freedom that defines a true safari.

With the roof open, you have unobstructed views across the plains, watching life unfold at its own pace. No rush, no crowds, just observing and absorbing everything around you.

This is not just about spotting wildlife. It is about experiencing the silence, space and atmosphere that make a safari so special. With AV Tours, these moments are at the heart of every journey. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฆ“

Did you know that around 300,000 zebras roam the Serengeti? Moving together across endless plains, shaping one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth. Their presence is powerful, grounding, and deeply connected to the land.

Today we celebrate them. Exactly as they are. Wild, countless, and essential to Africaโ€™s story.

Interactions within a lion pride ๐Ÿฆ

Lions are social predators that live in prides where hierarchy and social bonds play an important role. In this photo, you see an interaction between a male lion and a lioness. Although it may appear intense, this behaviour is often part of social communication, such as reinforcing dominance, maintaining rank, or strengthening bonds within the pride.

Male lions play a key role in protecting the territory, while lionesses are responsible for hunting and caring for the cubs. Moments like these offer a fascinating insight into the complex social lives of lions and show that a safari is not only about hunting, but also about behaviour, cooperation, and social structure.

The Thomsonโ€™s gazelle is named after the Scottish explorer and scientist Joseph Thomson. He was the first to describe this gazelle species in 1883 during his expeditions through Kenya. Ever since, the Thomsonโ€™s gazelle has become one of the most recognisable inhabitants of the East African savannahs.

During a safari with Nala Trails, you will often see these swift and elegant antelopes moving across the plains in large herds, a truly iconic sight within the African landscape.
