Remembering Baraka
It was a privileged to visit Baraka at Ol Pejeta Conservancy and learn about the remarkable story of this blind black rhino.
Baraka passed away at 31years , leaving behind a legacy that went far beyond his age. Despite losing his sight, he became an ambassador for rhino conservation and a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting these endangered giants.
Visiting him was more than a wildlife encounter it was a lesson in resilience, conservation, and the responsibility we have to protect wildlife for generations to come.
His name meant “blessing" in Swahili.
Baraka will be deeply missed. Your legacy will live on.
