PLP leader Martha Karua has taken aim at President William Ruto, accusing him of using retired President Uhuru Kenyatta as a political prop to boost his 2027 re-election image. Speaking on Kameme TV, Karua said Ruto’s attempt to associate with Uhuru during a recent State House appearance was misleading and manipulative.
“Uhuru should be respected, not dragged into political games,” Karua declared. She insisted that the former Head of State deserves peace and privacy after his service, not to be weaponized in partisan battles.
Her remarks came after Ruto allies claimed Uhuru’s State House visit proved unity with the President—an idea Karua called a “public relations stunt.” She warned that using retired leaders to sway opinion reflects desperation, not strength.
“Trying to attach yourself to Uhuru when things fall apart politically is a sign of panic,” she said. Karua’s message: let Uhuru rest, and let current leaders carry their own weight without leaning on retired figures to score points.
