Ngare Ndare Forest
The following are our attractions and activities:
Waterfalls
The forest has six natural blue pools and waterfalls hidden in the middle of the forest where one can swim and relax. The waterfall is about 30 feet.
Rock Climbing
There are rocks suitable for climbing, for the experienced adventures, and you need to have your own safety gear and expertise.
Game Drives
With a 4 wheel drive vehicle, one can drive through the forest and enjoy the sceneries as well as abundant wildlife.
Tree Canopy Walk
A 450 m long bridge suspended 30 feet above the ground, longest in East Africa. Visitors walk to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the forest, which ends on a high platform where one can view elephants and other wild animals drinking water from the swamp below. For those with height phobia, this is the place to face your fears
Birds and Wildlife
The forest boasts of over two hundred species of birds, some being migratory. Rare spectacular birds like Hurtlabs turaco and the Narina trogon can be found here. We also have all the big five and other small animals like bushbucks, waterbucks warthogs and hyenas. The forest is a home to the most elusive monkey, the colobus monkey!
Forest Camping
Taking your mind away from everyday stresses is important every once in a while. You will come across things that you have never seen before. We have two campsites where guests can enjoy camping out in the wilds of the forest, enjoying the tranquility of the forest, listening to birds and splashing of water from the nearby stream. The campsite is equipped with clean running water, a toilet and a bathroom.
Forest Walk
We have one hiking trail in the forest which covers a distance of 3.5 Km, ending at the waterfalls and azure pools. There are some areas that are quite steep, but manageable. This will take you about an hour to hike to the pools.
