Professional Itinerary
07:00 – 07:30 | Outbound Transfer
Complimentary pickup from your resort or private villa in Mombasa or Diani Beach. Guests embark on a scenic, 1.5-hour southerly drive toward the coast of Shimoni, passing local architectural settlements and coastal agricultural landscapes.
09:00 | Embarkation & Technical Briefing
Arrive at the coastal departure point to board the custom wooden dhow. The crew conducts a mandatory marine safety and logistics briefing. As the vessel sets sail into the Indian Ocean, light refreshments, seasonal fresh fruits, and mineral water are served on deck.
09:30 – 12:30 | Marine Wildlife Tracking & Snorkeling
Cetacean Tracking: Cruise the outer boundaries of the marine sanctuary to locate and observe resident pods of Bottlenose and Humpback dolphins in their natural habitat.
Guided Snorkeling: Anchor at Kisite Marine National Park, a highly protected reserve renowned for exceptional coral health and biodiversity. Guests are equipped with sanitized, professional-grade snorkeling gear (masks, snorkels, and fins). Certified marine guides es**rt participants into the water to explore the shallow coral reefs, which offer high visibility and close encounters with sea turtles, rays, and diverse tropical fish species.
13:00 – 14:30 | Premium Swahili Seafood Luncheon
The dhow docks at Wasini Island for a curated, sit-down Swahili seafood luncheon at a private island restaurant. The menu highlights fresh, locally sourced catches, crab, traditional coconut rice, and coastal spices.
Vegetarian, vegan, and alternative dietary requirements are accommodated with advance notice during booking.
14:30 – 15:30 | Wasini Island Eco-Tour
An eco-conscious guided walk through the historic Wasini fishing village offers insight into traditional Swahili culture and architecture. The tour concludes with a walk along the island's elevated boardwalk, crossing ancient mangrove forests and fossilized coral gardens exposed by the low tide.
15:45 | Return Sail & Optional Mainland Historical Tour
Board the dhow for the return cruise to the mainland jetty. Upon arrival, guests have flexibility in their schedule:
Standard Program: Proceed directly to the transport vehicles for the return journey.
Optional Add-On (Shimoni Slave Caves): Guests may opt for a historical excursion through the Shimoni Slave Caves. This mainland site carries deep historical significance from the East African slave trade era. Note: Entry fees for the cave tour are managed independently as an optional extra.
16:15 – 17:30 | Inbound Transfer
Vehicles depart the mainland jetty for the return drive, delivering guests directly back to their respective hotels or villas in Diani or Mombasa by late afternoon.
