here’s what to know šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

šŸŽŸļø entrance fees: this site offers free admission to its visitors. there’s also no age limit when entering the site.

šŸ‘• what to wear? since this is a sacred place, visitors are encouraged to dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees but comfortable enough to walk around, especially if you go during dry season.

šŸš– transportation: i would personally suggest to join a group tour or rent a car when going here. grab car would also be an option, just be reminded that there’s no direct transportation like bus or trains in the area.

🪭 it was quite too warm when we visited in february, so portable fans are a-must!

🧓since we have a kid, insect repellant also comes in handy since it’s an outdoor space and the main tourists’ area is at the foot of a mountain.

there are also a couple of restaurants and other tourist spots nearby, so to make the most of your trip here, it is highly suggested that you plan your route ahead of time.

J-Park Nihon Mura is a Japanese-themed mall in Si Racha, Chonburi, Thailand.
It's a shopping mall that is often described as
"Little Japan". šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ

The atmosphere is good and perfect for photo taking. It's spacious with a number of shops and restaurants. ā˜•ļø

While it's an outdoor space, it's quiet and | actually find it nice to just hangout in one of the cafĆ©s one atternoon. šŸƒ

Here in Mauban Quezon we don’t have big malls, we don’t have grand parks, we don’t have really fancy places to hangout.

But we do have places like this.

How great it is to spend some time with nature - aka Nature Therapy. šŸƒ

With all the stressful things going on around us these days, it’s already a luxury for me to spend some quiet, undisturbed moments with the people dear to me.

šŸ“Œ Things to know when visiting Narda:

ā–«ļøThere’s a parking space onsite, we paid Php100 for a 4-wheel vehicle.

ā–«ļøThere are a couple of sari-sari stores along the way.

ā–«ļøThe place is a deadspot. If you need an internet connection, there’s a piso wifi available.

ā–«ļøThere are cottages for big groups also.

ā–«ļøThe table we rented costs Php150 for the whole day.

ā–«ļøThere are sako/trash bags there, so PLEASE DO NOT litter.

ā–«ļøThere are restrooms available, too. Just ask the owner of the cottage or tables you rented.

ā–«ļøWe brought insenso for insects, too. Since we have a kid.

ā–«ļøYou’ll know that the water is clean because people who live in the area bathe, brush their teeth, do their laundry right there.

can’t deny it - traveling will use up some funds (especially these days) but hey! they don’t have to be overly expensive.

pre-baby, my husband and i had our fair share of traveling within a very limited budget a.k.a budget backpackers.

from catching red-eye flights, staying in budget hotels/airbnb, carrying only our backpacks and eating in ā€œwarungsā€ or small stalls / cafĆØs - we’ve done them all with zero regrets!

but traveling with a kid now will somehow require us to opt for more comfortable but reasonable options.

from choosing an ideal flight time, booking a comfy accommodation, a checked luggage and considering the places to eat.

while we no longer run on a very tight budget, we still make sure that every spend is reasonable and within our allocated funds.

these strategies work for us whenever we save up for our trip:

ā–Ŗļøplanning ahead of time: and that includes deep, intense research of where we want to go, how long the trip is going to be, the timing of our trip, how long it will take for us to hit our target travel budget, etc.

ā–Ŗļøusing our credit cards wisely: we use CCs to gain points, so *personally* we make sure that whenever we kaskas our cards, we at least have 50% of cash on hand to pay for it immediately, better if we have 100% to pay for it in full.

plus we kaskas right after the cut-off date so that the expenses will be billed in the next billing cycle. we also make sure to pay the remaining amount in full to avoid getting those extra charges.

ā–Ŗļøadopting slow, intentional travels work for us now. having only a few highlights of the trip and not packing our days with too many activities help us keep our expenses low. plus, we get to enjoy the day by doing things one at a time.

ā–Ŗļøpacking & traveling light keep us from getting over baggage which incurs additional costs. we don’t shop too much, and we don’t spend too big - that alone saves us more $$.

ā–Ŗļøwe’ve always travelled on our own as there are a lot of perks to it. we have control over our time and itinerary which are two of the things we want to manage, plus most of the places we get to visit on our own are free of charge *wink, wink!

we may have a controlled spendings when we travel, but we still ensure to make each trip worth it by trying out and setting budget aside for foodtrips, must-try activities and entrance fees for must-see places.

we personally don’t spend on a lot of things - maybe a couple of pasalubongs which are not really mandatory.

with proper and strategic research, exploring places with the family won’t have to break your bank.

you planned a trip for months and now it’s time to fly.

plot twist: with your kid.

we all see people side eyeing kids boarding the plane, but not all of them. some co-flyers are supportive and understanding.

while it’s intimidating at times, with proper and proactive planning, we can make flying with our child less stressful and more bearable.

so, we’re now sharing with you more hacks that help us flying with our kid more manageable.

ā–Ŗļøpicking our flying time is crucial for us. coming from the province, it’s far from ideal for us to pick an early morning flight. so, midday flights are always the best and ideal times for us to catch.

ā–Ŗļøwhatever is in our carry-on can make or break our day. we always make sure that everything we need immediately is right within reach. 10 toy cars? done. gummy bears? done. we don’t tend to overpack, we just pack our urgent needs (and our kid’s wants).

we dress him up with comfortable clothing, but we always make sure that extra tops for both warm and cool temperatures are available in our carry-ons.

ā–Ŗļøeven adults get bored in the flight. why expect a little kid to be entertained while sitting in a small cabin space? that’s where all of our kid’s wants come in - stickers, toy cars, fave snacks (avoid too much sugar at all costs!).

there are times where he seems to entertain himself with whatever that’s available. pro-tip: we just let him. we don’t over entertain him. we let him stare out the window, play with my hands, talk to himself, whatever keeps him busy. just. let. him.

we use screentime as the very last resort. with no wifi available on board, his options are quite limited and it will just frustrate him. good thing he’s not one to always ask for it, so that works out for us.

ā–Ŗļøand no matter how much we prepare for it - truth is: we cannot control everything, we can only hope for the best.

we know our kids better, we what helps them calm down.

we know the techniques and stuff that will soothe them and definitely, this guide is a not a one size fits all so feel free to tweak a little strategy here and there.

focus on connection, not perfection.

what are the strategies that you use that work for you and your kid?

share them down belowšŸ‘‡šŸ¼

flying with a kid can be a challenge especially if it’s their first time - but it’s not that bad with some extra preparation and some strategy.

here’s what we usually do to prep our kid before the flight.

but as parents, we know our kid better than anyone else so you may need to tweak a little strategy here and there, and add some stuff that work for you and your kid šŸ˜‰

please feel free to share your own strategies in the comment section, we’d love to read them! šŸ‘€

us traveling as a family doesn’t always look ā€œaesthetically curatedā€ behind the scenes and that’s totally fine ✨

* take-outs > night-outs
* meltdowns wherever and whenever they happen
* moving slower on purpose
* creating more core memories as a young family
