අතු පන්දලම අලුත් කිරීමේ චාරිත්රය 2026
දුටුගැමුණු මහ රජතුමාගේ නියමය අනුව ඉදිකරන ලද ඓතිහාසික රුහුණු මහා කතරගම දේවාලය ඉදිරිපිට පිහිටි පෞරාණික අතුපන්දලම අලුත් කිරීමේ චාරිත්රය අද (20) උදෑසන බස්නායක නිලමේ ආරච්චිගේ තිලින මදුශංක මැතිතුමාගේ මූලිකත්වයෙන්, රුහුණු මහා කතරගම දේවාලයේ ප්රධන කපු ධූරන්ධර සරත් සේපාල ටී, රත්නායක මැතිතුමාගේ අනුශාසනා පරිදි කපු මණ්ඩලයේ සහ නිල රාජකාරි මණ්ඩලයේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් චාරිත්රානුකූලව සිදු කෙරිණි.
එහිදී බස්නායක නිලමෙ තුමන්ගේ සුරතේ තිබෙන කොළ අත්ත වාසනා හස්ථිරාජයා විසින් ගෙන අතු පන්දලමේ ලී පාදම මත තැන්පත් කිරීම පුරාණ චාරිත්රානුකූලාව සිදු කරනු ලැබේ. එහිදී කතරගම දෙවොලේ මගුලැතු වාසනා හස්ථිරාජයා ප්රධාන පෙරහැරේ ගමන් කරන අලි ඇතුන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් මැණික් ගං තොටින් කොළ අතු සෝදා පිරිසිදු කොට අතුපන්දලම නැවත සකස් කිරීම සිදු කරනු ලබයි.
අද දින අලුත් කරනු ලැබූ මෙම අතුපන්දලම නැවත වරක් අලුත් කරනු ලබන්නේ ලබන වසරේ ඇසළ පෙරහර මංගල්යයේ හයවන පෙරහර දිනයේදීය.
අතුපන්දලමේ ඉතිහාසය,
කතරගම දේවාලය ඉදිරිපිට කොළ අතු යොදා සකස් කර ඇති මෙම අතුපන්දලම දුටුගැමුණු මහ රජුගේ සමයේ සිට අඛණ්ඩව සෑම ඇසළ පෙරහර සමයකදීම චාරිත්රානුකූලව අලුත් කරනු ලබන පෞරාණික සම්ප්රදායකි.
පෙරහර දින පහක් අවසන් වූ පසු අතුපන්දලම තුළ ඇති පැරණි අතු දඬු ඉවත් කර, නව කොළ අතු යොදා එය නැවත සකස් කරනු ලබන්නේ පෙරහැරේ ගමන් කරන අලි ඇතුන්ගේ උපකාරයෙනි. මෙම කොළ අතු රැගෙන එනු ලබන්නේ බස්නායක නිලමේ නිල මැදුරේ පැවැත්වෙන දානමය පුණ්යකර්ම අවසන් වීමෙන් අනතුරුවය.
පාරම්පරික කපු මහත්වරුන් පවසන ආකාරයට, මෙම චාරිත්රය අතීතයේ සිදු වූ ඓතිහාසික සිදුවීමක් සිහිපත් කිරීම සඳහා අද දක්වා පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබයි.
කතරගම දෙවියන් වහන්සේ හමුවූ දුටුගැමුණු මහ රජතුමා යුද්ධයෙන් ජය ලබා රන් උළු මාලිගාවක් ඉදිකර පූජා කරන බවට භාරයක් වූ බව ජනප්රවාදයේ සඳහන් වේ. එළාර රජු පරාජය කර ජය ලැබීමෙන් පසු එම භාරය ඉටු කරන තෙක් සන්නාසි වෙසින් සිටි කඳ කුමාරයන් සඳහා රජතුමා විසින් තාවකාලික කොළ අතුපන්දලමක් ඉදිකර දෙන ලදී.
එදා ඉදිකළ එම අතුපන්දලම සිහිගන්වමින් අදටත් සෑම වසරකම කතරගම දේවාලය ඉදිරිපිට අතුපන්දලම අලුත් කිරීමේ මෙම පෞරාණික චාරිත්රය අඛණ්ඩව පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබයි.

At that time, the green branch in the face of the Basnayake Nilame is taken by Vasana Hasthirajaya and placed on the wooden base of the Athu Pandalama according to the ancient ritual. At that time, the Magulathu Vasana Hasthirajaya of the Kataragama Temple, with the participation of the elephants moving in the main procession, washes and cleans the Athupandalam from the Menik River and re-arranges it.
This Athupandalam, which was renewed today, will be renewed once again on the sixth day of the Esala Perahera next year.
History of the Athupandalam,
This Athupandalam, which is made of leaves in front of the Kataragama Temple, is an ancient tradition that has been renewed in a ritual manner during every Esala Perahera since the time of King Dutugemunu.
After the five days of the perahera, the old branches in the Athupandalam are removed and it is re-arranged with new leaves with the help of the elephants moving in the perahera. These leaves are brought after the end of the alms offering held at the Basnayake Nilame Nila Medura.
According to traditional Kapu gentlemen, this ritual is continued to this day to commemorate a historical event that occurred in the past.
Legend has it that King Dutugemunu, who met the Kataragama God, made a vow to build and offer a golden palace after winning the war. After defeating King Elara and achieving victory, the king built a temporary green Athupandalam for the Kanda princes who were living as ascetics until the vow was fulfilled.
This ancient ritual of renewing the Athupandalam in front of the Kataragama temple is still continued every year in memory of the Athupandalam built then.

அப்போதைய நிகழ்வில், பஸ்நாயக்க நிலமேயின் முகப்பில் இருந்த பச்சைக்கிளையை வாசன ஹஸ்திராஜய எடுத்து, பழங்கால சடங்குகளின்படி அது பந்தளத்தின் மரத்தாலான அடித்தளத்தில் வைத்தார். அப்போது, கதிர்காமக் கோயிலின் மகுலத்து வசன ஹஸ்திராஜயப் பெருமான், பிரதான ஊர்வலத்தில் செல்லும் யானைகளின் பங்களிப்புடன், மணிக்க நதியிலிருந்து அத்துப்பண்டலத்தைக் கழுவிச் சுத்தம் செய்து மீண்டும் அமைக்கிறார்.
இன்று புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்ட இந்த அத்துப்பண்டலம், அடுத்த ஆண்டு எசல பெரஹேராவின் ஆறாம் நாளில் மீண்டும் ஒருமுறை புதுப்பிக்கப்படும்.
அத்துப்பண்டலத்தின் வரலாறு,
கதிர்காமக் கோயிலின் முன்பாக இலைகளால் செய்யப்படும் இந்த அத்துப்பண்டலம், துட்டகெமுனு மன்னர் காலம் முதல் ஒவ்வொரு எசல பெரஹேராவின் போதும் சடங்கு ரீதியாகப் புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டு வரும் ஒரு தொன்மையான பாரம்பரியமாகும்.
பெரஹேராவின் ஐந்து நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு, அத்துப்பண்டலத்தில் உள்ள பழைய கிளைகள் அகற்றப்பட்டு, பெரஹேராவில் செல்லும் யானைகளின் உதவியுடன் புதிய இலைகளால் அது மீண்டும் அமைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த இலைகள், பஸ்நாயக்க நிலமே நில மேதுராவில் நடைபெறும் பிட்சை வழங்கும் நிகழ்வு முடிந்த பிறகு கொண்டுவரப்படுகின்றன.
பாரம்பரிய காப்புப் பெருமக்களின் கூற்றுப்படி, கடந்த காலத்தில் நடந்த ஒரு வரலாற்று நிகழ்வை நினைவுகூரும் வகையில் இந்தச் சடங்கு இன்றுவரை தொடர்கிறது.
கதையின்படி, கதிர்காமக் கடவுளைச் சந்தித்த துட்டகெமுனு மன்னன், போரில் வெற்றி பெற்ற பிறகு ஒரு தங்க அரண்மனையைக் கட்டி அர்ப்பணிப்பதாக நேர்ச்சை செய்தான். எலர மன்னனைத் தோற்கடித்து வெற்றி பெற்ற பிறகு, அந்த நேர்ச்சை நிறைவேறும் வரை துறவிகளாக வாழ்ந்து வந்த கந்த இளவரசர்களுக்காக, மன்னன் ஒரு தற்காலிகப் பச்சை நிற அத்துபந்தலத்தைக் கட்டினான்.
அக்காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்ட அத்துபந்தலத்தின் நினைவாக, கதிர்காமக் கோயிலுக்கு முன்னால் உள்ள அத்துபந்தலத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்கும் இந்தப் பண்டைய சடங்கு ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் இன்றும் தொடர்கிறது.
