This wasn’t just an aircraft, it was a true workhorse of its time.

Powered by a Lycoming O-540-F1B5 carbureted engine, it delivered consistent, dependable performance across every mission it undertook. Its 2+2 cabin configuration (04 POB) offered a balance of comfort and practicality, built for both people and purpose.

But beyond the numbers, it was the way this machine carried itself that made it remarkable.

With its two-bladed main rotor and tail rotor, it carved through Sri Lanka’s most demanding landscapes from the high-rise mountains to the endless coastal stretch never falling short on dependability. Quietly resilient, unwavering in performance, and always ready for the next flight.

Hour after hour, it proved its worth.

And when it reached its 2000-hour mark, it didn’t simply retire it completed its journey with strength and dignity. De-registered from the CAASL registry and sent onward, closing a chapter that was nothing short of exceptional.

I had the privilege of working with this aircraft during its time and some machines, you don’t just operate…
