Ceylon Brewery was the first brewery established in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1849 by Sir Samuel Baker (1821–93) as a cottage industry, catering for the British colonial tea plantations in the hill country retreat of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya was the ideal location for a brewery, with its cool climate and natural spring water.It wasn't however until 1881 that it began brewing on a commercial basis, with the Ceylon Brewery Company.

YAPAHUWA Rock Fortress.

YAPAHUWA served as 13th Century A.D. Sri Lankan Capital. Located between Kurunegala & Anuradhapura ancient Capital.
The Rock Fortress is 90m or 300 feet high flat top hill. Fortification of YAPAHUWA fortress is surpassed only by those at " SIGIRIYA.
Most impressive element is porch leading to terraced staircase. Best ruins, ramparts, Tooth Relique Temple, stone carvings and four women dancers could be seen here with famous " Stylish Lion.
Palace was not built on summit like that at SIGIRIYA.

Isurumuniya Temple - Anuradhapura

This is a combination of Rock & Cave Temple famous for rare rock Carvings" like Isurumuniya Lovers, frolicking elephant, The Man & Horse, Represents " Agni" ( The God of Fire & " Parjanya" The God of Rain).

"Sri Maha Bodhi" (Holly Bo Tree).

The Sacred "Bo Tree"( Ficus religiosa), situated in the ancient city Anuradhapura stands as ' The Oldest recorded tree in the world' which extends it's history to the period of "Gautama Buddha". Eve earlier to the Buddha, this was know as a special religious tree to Indian People.
The 1st stanza of Chapter 15, The Tree of life' of Bhagavad-Gita explains about this tree, " the imperishable ' asvattham tree's as having it's root above and branches below its leaves are the Vedas and he who knows this, is the knower of the Vedas"
"Rig Veda" also mentions about this tree. Kato Upanishad says this ' world tree' is eternal.
In "Mahabharata" introduce this Tree as 'Samsara Vruksha' or the Cosmic tree.

Kuttam pokuna

These twin ponds are among the most outstanding architectural & artistic marvel of ancient "singhales". It is a good example of sophisticated hydraulic engineering system in ancient Ceylon. Interconnected ponds The size of the smaller one is 91x51 feet & the a Bigger Pond is 132z 51 feet, was uilt by King Agbo 1st (571-604 A.D.) for benefit of the monks in Abhayagiri Monastery.

Mihinthale

The " Cradle of Buddhism" , it's history dates back to 247c B.C. where King Devanampiyatissa" met " Arahath Mahinda" the great Buddhist missionary who preached the Buddhist doctrine to the King nowadays identified as a great monastic city. Most iconic here is the Majestic flight of 1840 granite steps, 5 meters wide lead you to the summit, also from terace of "Ambastala Stupa" gives the visitors and pilgrims a splendid views of surrounding countryside.
