Walking ancient jungle paths with the Vedda chief and tasting the flavors of the wild — a true Gal Oya adventure 🥾 🚶‍♂️ 🎒 🧭 🗺️

Deep within the untamed wilderness of Gal Oya, a group of young adventure seekers embarked on a remarkable jungle expedition guided by a Vedda chief, a guardian of Sri Lanka’s ancient forest traditions. Following narrow trails known only to the Vedda people and the wildlife that roam these lands, the group journeyed through dense forest, listening to the rhythms of nature all around them. Their trek paused beside a quiet clearing where a unique jungle picnic awaited.

Using firewood gathered from the forest, fresh roti was prepared over a traditional rock hearth, filling the air with the comforting aroma of woodfire cooking. The warm roti was served with spicy lunumiris on freshly picked forest leaves, while hot plain tea was offered in natural coconut shells — a simple yet unforgettable feast in the heart of the wild. Revitalized and inspired by this authentic wilderness experience, the group continued their trek deeper into the forest, carrying with them a rare connection to nature, culture, and the timeless traditions of the Gal Oya Vedda community.
