At the inauguration ceremony of our Hands Speak Project held on March 14, Ms. Piyumanthi, an alumna of St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf, shared her thoughts with us as follows.

මාර්තු 14 වෙනිදා පැවැත්වුනු අපේ Hands Speak project එකේ සමාරම්භක අවස්ථාවෙදී රාගම සාන්ත ජෝශප් බිහිරි පාසලේ ආදිශිශ්‍යාවක් වන පියුමන්ති මහත්මිය තම අදහස් අප වෙත මෙසේ එක් කරන ලදි. ❤️🙏

Like you, who love our Hands Speak project, our deaf community loves it even more than we can imagine ❤️.
It is through their blessings, strength, and encouragement that we, as CODA children and deaf youth, continue to move forward with hope and purpose.

Today, I would also like to share the heartfelt thoughts of Ms. Shiroma ❤️ the first President and founder of the Sri Lanka Deaf Women’s Association
who joined us during the Hands Speak project.

Though she now lives in Italy, she continues to stand with and support the deaf community in Sri Lanka whenever they need her help and guidance. Her love, dedication, and lifelong commitment to the deaf community remain truly inspiring.

අපේ Hands Speak project එකට ආදරය කරන ඔයාලා වගේම අපේ බිහිරි ප්‍රජාවත් ඒකට අපි හිතනවාට වඩා ගොඩක් ආදරෙයි ❤️. එයාලගේ ආශීර්වාදය නිසාවෙන්ම තමයි CODA ළමයි ලෙස අපිත් බිහිරි ළමයිත් ඉදිරියටම යන්නේ

🤲✨ When Hands Speak, the World Still Listens.

A month may have passed since 14th March 2026… but some moments are too powerful to be left behind in time.

At St. Joseph's Deaf School, Ragama, we didn’t just host an event we ignited a movement. 🇱🇰

The launch of Hands Speak – Deaf Empowerment Initiative marked the beginning of something far greater than a single day.

Through our Visual Art Sculpting Workshop, in collaboration with Fr. Samantha’s workshop, we witnessed something beautiful:

silence turning into expression, and hands telling stories the world cannot ignore. 🎨🤟

We remain deeply grateful for the inspiring presence of Hon. Minister Sugath Wasantha de Silva, whose support uplifted every dream in that space.

Your presence sent a clear message the deaf community is seen, valued, and unstoppable. 💛

The talented young dancers of St. Joseph school for Deaf ragama have been selected to compete at the National Level Dancing Competition and we couldn't be more proud!

These incredible children have shown the world that silence is not a barrier it is a stage. Every move they make speaks louder than words.

We are truly honored and happy to announce the visit of Rev. Fr. Joseph Thomas Thermadom a remarkable and inspiring figure who holds a very special place in our hearts.

He is recognized as the 1st Deaf Catholic Priest in India, the 3rd in Asia, and the 26th in the world a historic achievement that brings pride and hope to the global Deaf Catholic community.

His presence is not only special to us, but also deeply meaningful for the entire Deaf Catholic community in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰💙

We warmly welcomed him to Sri Lanka on 7th April, where he stayed at Lilly Palace Villa Guest House.

As Ceylon Deaf Adventures, we were proud to take the lead in organizing his travel itinerary and providing transportation support throughout his visit ensuring he could comfortably reach and connect with Deaf communities across the country.

A truly special highlight of this visit was the courtesy meeting with
Honored to meet His Excellency Auxiliary Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Maxwell Silva
where we were honored to witness and support this meaningful encounter alongside Rev. Fr. Joseph 🇱🇰❤️🇮🇳

We are also grateful for the opportunity to support through sign language interpretation, helping bridge communication and create deeper connections 🤟❤️

One of the most special moments for us was his participation in our Hands Speak Project Deaf Community Workshop in Gampaha.
He actively engaged with participants, shared his journey, and inspired everyone present through his experiences, faith, and leadership. It was a powerful and emotional session that truly reflected the spirit of inclusion and empowerment 🙌

His mission throughout this visit was clear to meet, connect, and uplift the Deaf Catholic community in Sri Lanka. He met many Deaf individuals, exchanged experiences, strengthened faith, and built lasting relationships across communities.

This visit is more than just a journey it is a milestone for inclusion, faith, and empowerment. It reminds us that communication goes beyond words, and that true connection is built through understanding, respect, and shared humanity.

We are deeply grateful to be part of this meaningful journey and proud to support such an inspiring visit 🙏✨
