Ceymondu Escapes

Ceymondu Escapes A tour company managed by Ajeet De Soyza, offering unique curated experiences of Sri Lanka since 2012 Vacations don’t have to be about destinations.

Around here, being in the right place has nothing to do with geography. Or itineraries. Or grand events. In fact, most great vacation moments aren’t about meeting lofty expectations and even fewer are planned. Now if you’re lucky, vacations can be about a little bit of the good life where you slow down just enough to notice that the biggest discoveries you make come from the ones who were with you

all along. Wouldn’t that be nice? We travel not to escape life. But for life not to escape us. We here at Ceymondu understand that traveling is bigger than what you see. It’s about what you feel. Contact us for “Handcrafted Travel”

We are currently going through a period of intense heat across Sri Lanka, and as we at Ceymondu Escapes continue to travel across the island with our guests, this is something we are experiencing alongside them each day. Our founder, Ajeet De Soyza, who personally designs and oversees each journey, has been closely guiding our guests through this season, sharing with them the many faces of Sri Lanka. This is mainly due to the sun being directly overhead during this time of the year, which is quite normal for us, but can feel quite extreme especially if you are visiting from a cooler climate. This typically occurs every year between March and early May, making it a natural seasonal phase rather than an unexpected weather condition. Interestingly, this period also coincides with the Sinhala and Hindu New Year, a celebration deeply connected to the movement of the sun and the transition into a new season, symbolizing renewal and new beginnings.

If you are already in Sri Lanka or planning to visit, there is no need to worry. With a little awareness, your journey can still be very comfortable and enjoyable. Plan your sightseeing in the early mornings or late afternoons, stay well hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid long exposure to direct sunlight during midday hours. Sri Lanka has its own rhythm, and once you understand it, you travel with it, not against it. And just as this heat builds up, it also signals the seasonal shift, with rains expected towards late April and May, bringing a refreshing change to the island.

High up in the hills of Ramboda, where the air feels lighter and the world slows down, something magical happens in the early hours of the morning. As the sun begins to rise, a soft blue mist rolls gently across the tea fields. Locals call it the Blue Veil… a quiet, dreamlike moment where the entire plantation is wrapped in a calm blue glow. For generations, it has been seen as nature’s blessing, giving life to the land and character to the tea that grows here.

It was this very moment that inspired the name Bluefield. From its early days of transformation from coffee to tea, this estate became a symbol of how nature, timing, and human effort come together to create something truly special. In many ways, this is exactly what we stand for at Ceymondu. Our founder, Ajeet De Soyza, has always believed that travel is not about ticking boxes, but about creating meaningful connections with places, people, and stories. Through carefully curated journeys, we bring our guests closer to experiences like this, where every destination has a deeper story waiting to be felt and understood.

So when you hold a cup of this tea, you are not just tasting what grows on these hills. You are experiencing a journey shaped by time, nature, and human passion… a journey that reflects the very essence of Ceymondu and what we strive to share with every traveller who chooses to explore Sri Lanka with us.

In today’s world it is very easy for travellers to go online and book their own flights and hotels. Quite often the price on the screen may even appear cheaper. But what many people don’t always see is that they are comparing a price, not the responsibility behind the journey. At Ceymondu Travel, we see travel very differently. For us, a trip is not simply a series of bookings. It is a carefully planned journey that requires experience, coordination, and someone responsible when things do not go exactly as planned. With our airline ticketing services, our role goes far beyond issuing a ticket. Our team brings together years of industry expertise, strong airline relationships, and practical operational knowledge to guide travellers from the moment a journey is planned until they safely reach their destination.

When flights change, schedules shift, or connections become complicated, we step in to assist, adjust, and find solutions quickly. This is where the value of working with an experienced travel partner becomes clear. Ceymondu Travel is proud to be a member of the Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (TAASL) and a licensed travel operator by the CAASL - Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka. These affiliations reflect our commitment to professionalism, accountability, and trusted industry standards. When travellers choose Ceymondu, they are not simply purchasing a ticket. They are placing their journey in the hands of a team that understands travel and takes responsibility for making every trip smoother and more reliable.

Long before modern roads and cities shaped Sri Lanka, the forests of the eastern part of the island were home to the Vedda people, one of the country’s oldest communities. Their homeland stretched from the eastern slopes of the central mountains down to the Indian Ocean. Living deep within these forests, their lives followed the rhythm of nature, the movement of animals and the changing seasons.

Over generations they developed an extraordinary understanding of the jungle. Early visitors often spoke with amazement about how Vedda hunters could walk silently through dense forest, track animals even when there were no visible footprints, and travel miles through the wilderness without losing their way. What looked like magic to outsiders was simply the result of centuries of living closely with nature.

Their way of life was simple yet deeply spiritual. The Veddas honoured the spirits of their ancestors and the unseen forces of the forest through songs, chants and ceremonial dances rather than grand temples or monuments. In many ways this reflects a deeper character of Sri Lanka itself, where nature, spirituality and tradition have lived side by side for thousands of years.

Today, influenced by modern development and colonial value systems, many of us have moved away from that close relationship with nature and damaged delicate ecosystems along the way. For visitors who want to truly understand Sri Lanka, exploring the heart of the island and learning about the Vedda people offers a rare glimpse into an older way of life. The story of the Vedda people is not only about Sri Lanka’s past. It is also a reminder of an older wisdom that the modern world may one day need to rediscover.

Good news for our visitors who are currently in Sri Lanka and facing difficulties flying back to the Middle East.

With several Middle East bound flights cancelled from 28 February 2026 onwards, some travellers have found themselves in a difficult position, especially those whose visas are about to expire. Understanding this situation, the Department of Immigration and Emigration has stepped in with a practical and humane solution.

If you are affected, you are now eligible for a free seven day visa extension from the original date of your visa expiry. This means you can remain in Sri Lanka legally, without paying extra, while you reorganise your travel plans and secure new flights home. It removes unnecessary stress and avoids legal complications at a time when flexibility and understanding are needed most.

To all our guests here on the island, please stay calm, plan carefully, and reach out to your airlines and agents. Sri Lanka continues to stand by its visitors, not just as a destination, but as a responsible host.

At Ceymondu, we see Sri Lanka through layers of time, stories shaped by earth, people, and patience. From the island’s gem heritage to its tea-covered highlands, the same philosophy runs deep. Nothing of true value is rushed. It is discovered, shaped, and understood over time.

This way of thinking is driven by our founder, Ajeet De Soyza, whose belief is simple: meaningful travel begins with understanding, not itineraries. Just as gems are unearthed with care and tea is brewed slowly, journeys should be created through conversations, trust, and human connection.

That is why our approach to travel starts with listening. Not with a package, but with a conversation. When travellers explore Sri Lanka with patience and curiosity, the island reveals itself in ways that stay with them long after the journey ends.

Because in Sri Lanka, and in the way we travel at Ceymondu, the most meaningful experiences are never forced. They are discovered. Stories, set in stone.

At Ceymondu Escapes, we believe the future of tourism is not about entertainment or putting on a show. It is about authenticity. In Sri Lanka, that means being real about who we are, where we come from, and how we live. It is in sharing a simple meal, walking through a city with someone who has grown up there, hearing stories that are not polished or rehearsed, and letting visitors see both the beauty and the realities of this island. Even something like Ditwah reminds us of this. Nature does not perform for us. It does its own thing, and all it asks from us is respect, awareness, and a bit of humility.

Today’s travellers are not just chasing highlights. They want to feel something, learn something, and return home with a deeper understanding of the place they visited. Ditwah teaches us important lessons about balance, responsibility, and resilience. Tourism in Sri Lanka needs to grow with this mindset. Less noise, fewer gimmicks, and more thought. The businesses that stay grounded, respect nature and communities, and keep things honest are the ones that will truly stand out.

This way of thinking guides everything we do as a team at Ceymondu Escapes. It is a vision shaped and driven by our founder, Ajeet De Soyza, and one we live by every day in how we plan, guide, and host our guests. We believe in conversations before itineraries and journeys that feel personal rather than packaged. If you are planning to visit Sri Lanka and want to experience the island in a more meaningful and real way, let’s start with a conversation.
