🦚 Sri Lankan Junglefowl – The National Bird of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

This colorful bird is famous for its bright orange and golden feathers, blue facial skin, and striking red comb. The male junglefowl is especially stunning and can often be seen walking through forest trails, tea plantations, and national parks.

For hikers and nature lovers exploring the trails and forests of Sri Lanka, spotting a Sri Lankan Junglefowl is always a special moment. These birds are shy but sometimes appear quietly along jungle paths, especially in the early morning.

🥾 Pekoe Trail – Makulella to Ella | Stage Completed 🌿

We successfully completed the Pekoe Trail stage from Makulella to Ella on 3rd January 2026 — a beautiful and rewarding section of Sri Lanka’s iconic long-distance hiking trail.

This stage offers:

Scenic tea plantation landscapes

Peaceful village paths

Forest sections with fresh mountain air

Stunning views as you approach Ella

🌤️ Trail Conditions
The trail was walkable and safe, with mixed terrain including estate roads, footpaths, and natural trails. Weather conditions were generally favorable, making it a pleasant hike with proper preparation.

🚨 SERIOUS SAFETY WARNING – SRI LANKA RAILWAY & TOURISM COMMUNITY 🚨

This is NOT just information — this is a WARNING.

We are deeply concerned about the increasing number of dangerous and illegal photo activities on Sri Lanka’s hill country train routes, especially hanging out of trains or posing for photos near railway tracks.

📍 Incident Report
On 2026.01.04, at Haputale Railway Station, a foreign traveler fell from the train while attempting a photo pose.
The accident resulted in:

A broken leg

Severe injuries

Emergency medical treatment

This happened only for a photograph.

⚠️ Important Facts Everyone Must Know:

Hanging outside trains or posing on railway tracks is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS

It is ILLEGAL under Sri Lanka Railway Law

Trains cannot stop suddenly

One mistake can cause serious injury or death

😞 A Very Sad Reality
Some travel guides and helpers are encouraging or assisting travelers to take these dangerous photos.
This is irresponsible and unacceptable.

👉 Every tour guide has a duty to STOP this behavior, not promote it.

🚫 If these incidents continue:

Sri Lanka may face stricter railway restrictions

Tourists may lose access to scenic train experiences

Our future tourism reputation will be damaged

Local guide communities will face serious consequences

Travelers: Please DO NOT attempt dangerous poses

Guides: Please SAY NO and protect lives
