📍 Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka.

The moment I stepped into the cave, the atmosphere completely changed. Before my eyes stood row upon row of golden Buddha statues, glowing gently under ceiling frescoes that cover every inch of the rock wall.

Knowing that this sacred space was carved out of solid rock—and filled with centuries of devotion—left me truly speechless.

Touching a history of faith and artistry that spans over 2,000 years was a deeply cleansing experience. Definitely an absolute must-visit when you’re in Sri Lanka! ✨

In the lush, vibrant forests of Sri Lanka this January, I encountered the chic and beautiful Square-tailed Bulbul.
At first glance, it might look like a typical member of the black bulbul family widely distributed across Asia.

However, this is actually a very special bird, found only in southwestern India and Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, the ones seen here in Sri Lanka have undergone a unique island evolution, making them an endemic subspecies characterized by a noticeably thicker bill!

Perched against the deep green backdrop, the striking contrast of its robust, bright red bill and vibrant orange legs was breathtakingly beautiful.

深い緑の背景に、力強く太い真っ赤なくちばしとオレンジ色の脚が鮮やかに映えて、息をのむ美しさでした。

Breathtaking sunrise views from Pidurangala Rock, Sri Lanka

Known as the ultimate viewpoint to look at the world heritage site, Sigiriya Rock. We hiked up in the dark with flashlights early in the morning, and this stunning view was waiting for us at the summit! The pastel-colored sky and Sigiriya Rock standing tall amidst the jungle left me completely speechless.
While climbing Sigiriya Rock itself is incredible, this is hands down the best spot if you want to see it from the outside. The 360-degree panoramic view is an absolute must-see!

世界遺産シギリヤロックを、一番きれいに見られる場所として有名なピドゥランガラロック！

早朝、暗闇の中を懐中電灯を片手に登り、頂上で待っているのはこの素晴らしい風景！パステルカラーに染まる空と、ジャングルの中にそびえ立つシギリヤロック。シギリヤロック自体に登るのも良いですが、シギリヤロックを外から眺めるならここは間違いなくベストスポット。360度のパノラマビューは必見です！

Dambulla’s ancient art is truly a masterpiece of devotion. Every corner tells a story from centuries ago. It’s mind-blowing to think these intricate murals and 153 Buddha statues have been preserved for over 2,000 years. The silence and spiritual energy here are something you have to feel to believe. Definitely a highlight of Sri Lanka trip!

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was established by the Sri Lankan government in 1975 to protect baby elephants that were orphaned or separated from their mothers. Today, about 70 elephants live on the 100-square-kilometer grounds. It is incredibly heartwarming to see the elephants looking so happy while bathing in the river.

Sri Lanka is currently in its prime birdwatching season!
The vibrant Crimson-fronted Barbet (Psilopogon rubricapillus) spotted deep in the heart of the Sinharaja Rain Forest.

There’s nothing quite like hearing its rhythmic “took-took-took” call echoing through the canopy before finally catching a glimpse of that brilliant red brow. Seeing this Sri Lankan endemic in its natural habitat is a powerful reminder of why we must protect these ancient forests.
