صورة نادرة توثق احتجاج مسلمي سريلانكا ضد قيام دولة إسرائيل عام 1948

نُشرت مؤخرًا صورة فوتوغرافية نادرة توثّق لحظة تاريخية شهدتها سريلانكا في 10 يناير 1948، حيث تجمّع المئات من المسلمين السريلانكيين أمام مسجد مارادانا الشهير في العاصمة كولومبو، للتعبير عن رفضهم لقيام دولة إسرائيل على الأراضي الفلسطينية.

والصورة، التي تُعتبر من الوثائق البصرية النادرة، تُظهر حشداً من المحتجّين وهم يرفعون لافتات ويرددون هتافات داعمة لفلسطين، في مشهد يعكس عمق الارتباط التاريخي والديني الذي يكنّه مسلمو سريلانكا للقضية الفلسطينية منذ عقود.

وقد حصل على هذه الصورة الباحث السريلانكي "سراوانان كوماشي ناداراسا" من أرشيف دائرة الوثائق الوطنية في سريلانكا، وقام بنشرها كجزء من مشروعه لتوثيق المواقف السياسية والاجتماعية للمجتمع المسلم في البلاد خلال القرن العشرين.

ويُذكر أن مسلمي سريلانكا يُعدّون من أوائل الشعوب الآسيوية الذين عبّروا بشكل علني عن تضامنهم مع الشعب الفلسطيني، ورفضهم للسياسات الاستعمارية في الشرق الأوسط، وذلك في فترة حساسة سبقت إعلان قيام دولة إسرائيل بعدة أشهر.

وتُعد هذه الصورة شهادة حية على وعي المسلمين في سريلانكا المبكر بالقضايا العالمية، وحرصهم على دعم المظلومين والدفاع عن القضايا العادلة، خاصة تلك التي تمس الأمة الإسلامية.

அரிய காட்சி ஆவணமாகக் கருதப்படும் இந்த புகைப்படம், பாலஸ்தீனத்திற்கு ஆதரவாக போராட்டக்காரர்கள் கூட்டம் பதாகைகளை அசைத்து கோஷங்களை எழுப்புவதைக் காட்டுகிறது, இது பல தசாப்தங்களாக இலங்கை முஸ்லிம்கள் பாலஸ்தீன நோக்கத்துடன் கொண்டிருந்த ஆழமான வரலாற்று மற்றும் மத தொடர்பை பிரதிபலிக்கிறது.

The photograph, considered a rare visual document, shows a crowd of protesters waving banners and chanting slogans in support of Palestine, a scene that reflects the deep historical and religious connection Sri Lankan Muslims have had with the Palestinian cause for decades.

This photograph was obtained by Sri Lankan researcher Srawanan Kumar Nadarsa from the archives of the National Records Department of Sri Lanka and published as part of his project documenting the political and social attitudes of the country's Muslim community during the 20th century.

It is noteworthy that Sri Lankan Muslims were among the first Asian peoples to publicly express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and their rejection of colonial policies in the Middle East, during a sensitive period that preceded the declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel by several months.

HOW ISRAELI IDF TOURISM IS RUINING SRI LANKAN TOURISM AND GIVING THE COUNTRY A BAD NAME

It was only recently that well known international DJ and tourist Tom Monagle spoke out against Israeli tourists taking over the Arugam Bay area.

Let’s hear what he had to say: “I thought Arugam Bay was in Sri Lanka, but it looks like it's in Tel Aviv. That’s a lot of Hebrew and pro-IDF stickers. I’m seeing a lot more Hebrew” he said in a video shared on Instagram, raising concerns over the increasing presence of Israeli nationals and businesses in Arugam Bay.

That a foreign tourist should speak out against the growing Israeli presence here says a lot, all the more so when a good part of them are actually IDF soldiers who are accused to war crimes against Palestinian men, women and children, having killed nearly 20,000 innocent children as we speak.

His concerns are certainly welcome but also serve as a warning to our country that an increasing number of high net worth decent tourists are very angry about our country hosting war criminals and even issuing them free visas.

That’s not their only concern. These tourists from Western countries like the UK and Germany also feel excluded from Arugam Bay and other areas taken over by Israelis who like elsewhere maintain a very exclusive, arrogant attitude having Israeli Only Parties and openly displaying symbols of Israeli military might and Hebrew signage as if only Israelis matter here.

Israeli tourists are known to be rude and arrogant as seen in other countries like Cyprus and Thailand, and its no better here. They feel entitled here and act accordingly. The objective- to chase away other tourists and take over the Arugam Bay area completely as an Israeli colony.

Many Israelis here run illegal businesses and even peddle drugs under the very noses of the Police. It was only recently that an illegal, unauthorized Chabad House, an extremist organization that has called for the extermination of the Palestinian people was ordered to be closed down by the local authorities in Pottuvil where it is located.

What is obvious here is that illegal businesses and illegal religious places like Chabad Houses are very much part of the Israeli agenda, seeing how they have established illegal settlements in the West Bank of Palestine and destroying the livelihoods of Palestinians over there. So its no surprise!

Oh, and one more thing. The Government’s short-sighted decision to give protection to Israeli tourists here with armed STF Officers is another threat to our Tourist industry. Which tourist from any other country would like to see armed guards standing by Israeli tourists. The very sight would send shudders down their spine!

So its high time we put a stop to IDF tourism and clamped down on all illegal Israeli-run businesses here serving Israeli war criminals including hotels, cafes and surf shops. Under Sri Lankan law, a tourist visa does not permit employment or business activity and there are plenty of reports of Israeli-owned businesses operating here without proper business registration or tax compliance among other things.

The Government is by encouraging Israeli IDF tourism here ruining our Tourism Industry, chasing away other tourists and giving our country bad press and a bad image. So it's High time that ended and we saved our Tourism Industry.

We don’t need to lose our Paradisiacal Tourist Hotspot just for a few more Dollars and to serve War Criminals when we already have so much Good Tourism and Tourist Potential.

As Israeli visitor numbers to Thailand surge to record highs—over 103,000 in just the first three months of 2025—so too have complaints about their behaviour. Thai authorities, increasingly exasperated by reports of violence, disrespect for local customs, and disruptive conduct, are now urging Israeli nationals to show greater cultural sensitivity.

In a bid to rein in the trouble, a WhatsApp chatbot powered by AI and launched in partnership with the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok now dispenses etiquette reminders to Israeli tourists—advising them to speak quietly, dress modestly, wear helmets, and show respect toward Buddhism and the Thai monarchy.

Authorities have also introduced a mandatory digital arrival card for all foreign visitors, enabling closer monitoring of tourist entries. The move reflects growing concerns among Thai officials and locals alike, who say they’ve had enough of unruly behaviour from a tourist group that’s rapidly wearing out its welcome.

الشرطة تحقق في شجار ليلي في مطعم "بفورت غالي"!

تم نقل ستة أشخاص إلى المستشفى إثر شجار اندلع في مطعم بالحصن الهولندي في غالي" في وقت متأخر من الليلة الماضية (16 أبريل)، كما أفادت الشرطة.

ووفقًا لشرطة غالي، تصاعد الخلاف المحتدم بين مجموعة من العملاء وموظفي المطعم حول الطعام إلى مشاجرة جسدية حوالي الساعة 11:30 مساءً. وبحسب ما ورد تبادل الطرفان الضربات، مما أدى إلى إصابة ستة أشخاص.

ومن بين الجرحى ثلاثة من سكان كولومبو وهم رجل يبلغ من العمر 28 عاما وصبيان يبلغان من العمر 17 و 14 عاما. وتم التعرف على الجرحى الثلاثة الآخرين كموظفين.

وأضافت الشرطة أنها تحقق حاليًا في الحادث، وقد حددت هوية ستة أشخاص من المطعم يُعتقد أنهم متورطون. ولا تزال التحقيقات جارية لتحديد هوية أشخاص آخرين على صلة بالحادث.

Police investigating Galle Fort restaurant clash!

Six people were admitted to hospital following a brawl at a restaurant in Galle Fort last night (April 16), police said.

Galle police said a heated argument between a group of customers and restaurant staff over food escalated into a physical altercation at around 11:30pm,

The two sides clashed, resulting in six people being injured.

The injured include a 28-year-old man and three Colombo residents, including two boys aged 17 and 14. The other three injured have been identified as restaurant staff.

Police said they are currently investigating the incident and have identified six people from the restaurant who are believed to be involved.

Police are making enquiries to identify others involved in the incident.

Once, some refugees came to a country called Olive with nothing. They had run away from a war and had no things. The people of Olive were nice. They gave the refugees food, a place to stay, and some land to live on. The Olive people helped them build houses and grow food.

At first, the refugees were happy and thankful. They worked hard, and soon they had a good life with lots of food and a big village. But then they got greedy. They wanted more land. They saved money and bought the land from the Olive people who helped them. The Olive people trusted them and sold it.

Right after buying the land, the refugees turned bad. They took weapons and attacked the Olive people. They killed many, burned houses, and chased the rest away. The Olive people who helped them lost everything. The refugees took over the land and called it “IstheHell”.

They decided to expand “IstheHell”. Now, they are going to a new country called Pearl Island, which has good people in. They are bringing their beaches, and “Pearl island“ doesn’t know what’s coming.
