Meet the real management team at Palu 🐾

Brown, Alu Boley and Niki don’t take bookings, don’t answer emails and have never once helped in the kitchen but they greet every guest, test every sunny spot on the property and remind us daily that the best life is a slow one.

They were here before us, and honestly, Palu wouldn’t be Palu without them.

Which one would be your beach day buddy? Tell us in the comments 👇

Palu’s got its own Seedevi and Helaya too 🐊🐊Not the real deal (don’t worry, nothing’s nibbling your ankles), these two are cast in cement and named after Sri Lanka’s most legendary crocodile duo from the 2004 classic. A little nostalgia, a little art, permanently on guard at Palu. Drop a 🐊 if you know the tune, tag someone who needs this throwback.

Rice piled high, curries all around it, nothing on the plate that didn’t come from somewhere close by.

This is lunch at Palu… clay pots, open air, the forest doing the rest.

The camp kitchen: no walls, no rush.

At Palu, campers cook under thatch and timber, with the forest on every side. Birds loud, breeze passing straight through. What the land gives, we cook slowly.

Some kitchens have a window. Ours has a jungle.

First light, and the track is still cool.

Kumana doesn’t perform for anyone, it just wakes. A tank crowded with wings. An elephant where the grass runs thin. A crocodile holding the bank like it was promised to him.

This is the park, not our garden. But you sleep close enough to be at the gate by dawn and back at Palu before the heat sets in.

Some meals aren’t served, they’re shared. Rice, curry, and everyone reaching for the same plate, the way it’s always been done here. 🌿

There’s a door you’d never expect…

It doesn’t lead outside, it leads somewhere hidden in the trees, a quiet place where the rest of the world doesn’t follow.

The kind of quiet that settles into your shoulders.

Nets drawn. Lights low. The forest just outside the window, doing what it always does.

Nowhere to be. Nothing to do but sleep well.

This hive didn’t ask permission. It just grew quietly, in one of our trees, doing more for this land than most of us ever will.

No one planted it. No one manages it. It’s just here, the way most things at Palu are.
