Standing before the Ruwanweli Maha Seya is a humbling experience. Built by King Dutugemunu in 140 B.C., this “Great Thupa” is more than just a monument—it’s the spiritual heart of Anuradhapura. It enshrines a Dona (two quarts) of the Buddha’s sacred relics, the largest collection in the world. 🧘‍♂️
The sheer white dome against the blue sky is a reminder of peace and the path to enlightenment. Whether you’re here for the history or the prayer, there’s an energy here that you just have to feel for yourself. 🇱🇰

Along the golden shores of Trincomalee, before sunrise, a quiet ritual begins.

Fishermen gather on the beach and push their boats into the Indian Ocean, casting a massive seine net — locally known as Madal. Hours later, the entire village joins together, slowly pulling the rope back to shore.

There are no machines, no modern technology. Only teamwork, patience, and generations of knowledge passed from father to son.

Seine net fishing is not just a way of catching fish in Sri Lanka — it is a way of life. Every pull of the rope carries hope, food for families, and a tradition that has survived for centuries.

In Trinco, the ocean doesn’t only provide fish…
it sustains a community.
