STATEMENT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS SPORTS DEVELOPMENT POLICY

As the Sports Development Coordinator of the Ministry of Youth and Sports assigned to Lofa County, I am responsible for supporting and coordinating the implementation of the Ministry's sports development policies within the county.

One of the key areas of implementation is the policy requiring each county to identify and include at least ten (10) homegrown players in the County Sports Meet. This policy is intended to promote grassroots sports development, identify emerging talents, provide opportunities for young athletes, and ensure that local players benefit from sporting activities in their respective counties.

In Lofa County, I will work in collaboration with the Lofa County Sports Association, LFA Sub-Committees, district authorities, coaches, referees, community leaders, schools, clubs, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the policy is implemented fairly and transparently.

My responsibility is not only to enforce the policy, but also to help create opportunities for young people in Lofa County to develop their sporting talents and eventually represent the county and the nation at higher levels of competition.

The successful implementation of this policy will require the cooperation of all stakeholders. Together, we can strengthen grassroots sports development and create a sustainable pathway for young athletes in Lofa County.

🚨 LOFA COUNTY SPORTS STEERING COMMITTEE: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 🚨

We are not criticizing for the sake of criticizing. We are demanding better leadership, better planning, transparency, and a new direction for Lofa County sports.

👉 When will Lofa begin to give young, capable sports administrators and technical professionals the opportunity to lead?

Why must we continue recycling the same leadership and technical structures while expecting different outcomes?

We cannot keep doing the same old thing and expect different results!

For far too long, we have cried out to the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee to stop conducting major Lofa County sports activities in Monrovia. Unfortunately, our concerns continue to fall on deaf ears.

Lofa County has talented young people who deserve to be seen, developed, and given opportunities on their own soil.

The District League is an opportunity to scout players from Voinjama, Zorzor, Salayea, Kolahun, Foya, Quardu-Gboni, and other parts of the county.

Now, while stakeholders and sports enthusiasts in Lofa are organizing the Lofa County District League to identify, develop, and expose young talents who could represent the county at the upcoming National County Sports Meet, the committee has once again opened another chapter of county sports activities in Monrovia.

Why?

What is even more disappointing is the continued reliance on the same old and seemingly overstayed technical structure that was heavily criticized after Lofa's disappointing performance last year.

If the goal is to improve our results, then we must be willing to change the approach.

Other counties are beginning to invest in new ideas and younger leadership. For example, River Gee County has appointed Just O. Dukuly as Technical Director.

But Lofa continue to keep and others unnecessary people only to eat money and provide no benefits.

Lofa County deserve Better!
The young people in Lofa County deserve what belongs to us!

Report reaching us says Voinjama District Commissioner has been hospitalized following his defeat by Superintendent in the just-ended Unity Party Lofa County Convention.

According to reports, Commissioner Mawolo was rushed for medical attention after the convention, though the cause of his hospitalization has not yet been independently confirmed.

The convention ended with Superintendent J. Lavalah Massaquoi emerging victorious over Commissioner David Mawolo in the closely watched contest.

LOFA COUNTY SPORTS STEERING COMMITTEE: WHERE IS THE MERIT?

If the LFA can recognize Coach George Reeves Jr. as Lofa's Best Coach, while the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee excludes him from the county technical team, then the public deserves an explanation.

We are not against anyone being selected. We are simply asking for transparency, fairness, and merit-based selection.

How possible is it for the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to recognize Coach George Reeves Jr. as the Best Coach in Lofa County, yet he is nowhere to be found on the Lofa County Football Technical Team?
This situation raises serious questions about merit, fairness, and the criteria being used to select our county's technical team.

Coach George Reeves Jr. has a record that should not be ignored. He went undefeated, drawing only one (1) game, and went on to win the LFA-Lofa County Playoff. Despite these achievements, he has apparently been left out of the technical team.

What makes the situation even more questionable is the selection of some individuals as assistant coaches.

For example, Coach Sam Shefo of Saylee FC reportedly finished with only five (5) wins, nine (9) losses, and the remaining games drawn during the Voinjama Sub-Committee competition. Yet, he is reportedly among those selected to serve as an assistant coach.

So, the question is simple:
WHAT ARE THE ACTUAL CRITERIA FOR SELECTING LOFA COUNTY'S TECHNICAL TEAM?

If performance and results matter, then coaches w Ittho have demonstrated success should be given serious consideration.

Give coaches a fair opportunity based on their records, qualifications, and achievements.
