What begins as a peaceful hike above Vianden for Daniel Elke of wanderlust Magazin, turns into an unforgettable encounter with nature and history. ☀️🌩️

From the quiet of the forest trails to the sudden crackle of a summer thunderstorm, every step along the Éislek Pad brings you closer to the heart of this borderland, a place where countries meet, rivers divide, and stories unfold. 🌿

Enjoy a hike with a view of Vianden Castle, and follow in the footsteps of Victor Hugo, who once stood at the same viewpoint sketching the valley below, unaware of where the border began or ended. 🏰

Two wheels, endless freedom. 🚴 Happy !

In Luxembourg every ride tells a story. Not of rushing from A to B, but of slowing down, tuning in, and taking the long way on purpose. 🌿 It might begin on a shady trail through the woods, continue past vineyards warmed by the sun, and end with your feet in a stream with a village just around the bend.

Because cycling isn’t just about transport, it’s about discovery, connection, and freedom on two wheels!

And the best part? Travel by bike has never been easier:

🚆 Bike & Rail
Hop on board a train and combine rail and bike travel. With designated cycle routes starting at stations, exploring Luxembourg by bike has never been more seamless!

PS: Did you know all public transportation is free throughout Luxembourg? Even your bike travels free. 🙌

What if we told you this lush green wonderland was once the bottom of a sea? 🌿🌊🪨

The Visit Mullerthal, also known as Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland, is more than just pretty trails and mossy gorges. This UNESCO Global Geopark is a reminder of the Earth’s deep past. Think 200 million years of time travel, all hidden in these rocks, ripples, and caves!

It’s wild to think the ground you walk on here might still be keeping secrets. 🤯

In the latest edition of Luci magazine, geologist Birgit, Conny, and Robert take you beyond the surface, uncovering how this landscape came to life over millions of years. From hidden caves to ripple-marked rocks, every step here tells a story.

"Ultiem genieten van de natuur op steenworp afstand van Nederland? Het kan in Luxemburg! Het groothertogdom dat ondanks zijn bescheiden oppervlakte een verrassend gevarieerd landschap heeft met bossen, rotsformaties, dalen en oude dorpen."

Dit zijn, volgens Op Pad, de vier mooiste wandelroutes in Luxemburg. 🥾🇱🇺

"Located in the heart of Europe, Luxembourg ranks as the seventh smallest country on the continent. Admittedly, we got some raised eyebrows when we mentioned our plan to visit Luxembourg. But let that scepticism dissolve; it’s a hidden gem of a place that’s waiting to be discovered – see for yourself!

"I'm not sure what surprises me most when I get off the train at Luxembourg’s main station – the sheer friendliness of locals who seem to greet everyone as they pass by with a cheery Moien (hello), or the fact that from this point I will not be paying a penny to travel the length and breadth of the Grand Duchy.

Five years ago, Luxembourg became the first country in the world to actively tackle its carbon footprint by making all public transport free for everyone, including tourists. So I have come to see how it works in practice, aiming to travel to the country’s little known vineyards hugging the slopes along the Moselle River and then trek through the mysterious canyons and forests of the Mullerthal region."

Want to see how The Guardian journalist John Brunton uncovered Luxembourg’s hidden gems, all by free public transport? ⬇️

With free public transport for all – including tourists - exploring the vineyards, mysterious canyons and lush forests of the Grand Duchy couldn’t be easier
